Not available in my zip code.

This is the same outfit that let me order a new one for $100 months ago (along with the $35 plan), and then sat on the order for weeks before saying they were sold out.

I see deals like this pop up occasionally and just want to make sure I am understanding things correctly. To take advantage of this deal, you would sign up for a new line with Straight Talk and get the phone for $74. You would have to have it active for one month, which would be $35. You would cancel before the month is over, so total out of pocket would be around $110-$120.

You would then have an unactivated phone that could be used on wifi (like a mini iPad). After 60 days, the phone would become unlocked so it could be used on another carrier? Am I missing any details here? For us, the use case would be to have an unactivated phone for our child to use (for things like FaceTime and YouTube) when connected to wifi.

Thank you for your response.
I've wasted enough of my time with this deal and straight talk customer service. I'll sort this out with my credit card company and get my money back.
Best thing to do is file an FCC complaint online. Gets you a phone call from ST higher level support which gets phone unlocked & then you'll have a usable phone. Only takes a few minutes.

Has anybody had any issues unlocking? I purchased the phone with a 30day plan in September 2024. Activated the plan, wait 30 days until the service ended along with 60 days after service end. Phone isn't unlocked automatically. Called straight talk to unlock, manager on the phone says I need to have 60 days of service and not 30 days of service.
Also, if anyone runs into an issue with not getting the auto unlock after 60 days, make sure to call the unlock dept directly. It could still take a couple of calls to get it done, but those guys are often better about taking care of it rather than wading through CS nonsense. And of course, don't mention that your service has lapsed … just say that your phone was supposed to be unlocked and hasn't. Ideally, quote them the unlock date that was texted back to you if you have it so that they know it's actually been over 60 days.

I also ran into this issue. Just before my 30 day service ended, on Oct 10 or so, I texted UNLOCK to 611611 and it replied my device would be unlocked on Nov 12. Then I kind of forgot about it until today, and fired up the device and lo and behold it was still locked. Texted UNLOCK to 611611, and they replied your device is already unlocked... WTF
I tried calling the unlock dept but got tangled in the AI bot, basically hung up on me because I no longer have service. Had to call regular CS, on hold for 25 minutes....was told phone shows unlocked from their end, but I explained my phone settings say it is SIM locked, so she put in an order to process the unlock again, and told me it should get unlocked within 3 to 5 days. I guess we shall see.
Does the phone have to be powered on all the time until it is unlocked? That would be kind of silly...This phone sits in a drawer for weeks at a time, so it is usually dead after a couple days, until I pull it out to recharge like I did today (first time in a couple months)

If this doesn't get unlocked by next week, what number should I call to get to the unlock dept? And more important, how the heck do I talk to a human without the AI bot hanging up on me lol? Repeatedly saying "Agent" does nothing.
Thanks for any help/advice.

Perhaps you could try a factory reset after checking the unlock status on https://sickw.com/. If it shows as unlocked, proceed accordingly.

No, it doesn't neeed to be on the whole time. But it does need to be connected to the internet at some point to receive the unlock (so connect it to Wi-Fi if needed). If they said they're going to process the unlock, it often goes through pretty quickly even if they say to allow a few days. I'd reboot the phone and make sure that it's connected to Wi-Fi to see if it kicks in.

You can also check the unlock status on sickw to see if it's an issue on their end or the phone itself.

I believe 888-442-5102 is the number for unlocking.

Thank you so much. The phone is set up with Wifi, so whenever I turn it on at home, it connects to my Wifi. I'll check it couple times a day.
And thank you for suggesting sickw to check unlock status. I just did that and it is showing the phone is unlocked! (attachment)
I've powered the phone off and on several times, but under Settings -> General -> About -> Carrier Lock , says "SIM locked". Has not changed. I'm confused. Any ideas what could be the issue??

I met the same status as above mentioned. I bought this at least 6 months ago, I didn't use it for another sim after 30 days service expired.

I thought it will auto- unlock, but when I saw this post to re-check my iphone SE3, in general --> about this phone---> it still shown "locked"

I checked the link above https://sickw.com/ by input my IMEI, it said "unlocked" . how do I solve this problem if I don't want to re-set to factory setting to try (I had some app setting which don't want to re-set or re-do again),

ever bought Visible iphone which unlocked automatically w/o making any reset or submit any request. I thought all iphones from these carriers (visible, tracfone, straighttalk....etc) all the same

thanks

Well, try the Reset Network Settings, then reboot

You can also try popping in a non-ST SIM if you have one laying around. That will often kick in the unlock (for phones that sickw show as unlocked). I don't think it needs to be an active SIM, but just from another carrier (as long as you're connected to WiFi)

Putting in a different sim would have been less drastic.

tried a lot of different reset. Network reset or other reset still the same.
Finally, using factory reset to make it unlock.

But I have to re-do a lot of app setting and login efforts..

anyway, thanks all
