Anyone have this on an enclosure? Thinking of using for media backup.

For media backup why wouldn't you just use a big cheap spinner in an enclosure?

I have 4 of these and use them for photo/video editing on a 2023 M2 Macbook Pro. Purchased 4 of them over time and each for around $200 or less. That price is probably the sweet spot for pricing. I think a few years ago before inflation got it for $179.

I use them in Acasis TBU405 Thunderbolt Enclosures.
Speeds are insanely fast at 2500mb/s read and 2000 mb/s write.

Highly recommend (:

I have PTSD from Crucial brand when I used their SATA SSD a long time ago. What's the sentiment on Crucial for NVME drives?

From what I can tell Crucial, Samsung, and SK Hynix are top tier.

Me too. The only SSD/M.2 that over heat is Crucial. It just overheat using as a boot drive, not even play game or write a lot.

How is this for a laptop? Or would this need a heatsink and run too hot or too power hungry?

Typing this on an ultrabook with a gen 4 Micron, which may or may not be the same drive as this (hard to tell with OEM model numbers) and have never even come close to overheating.
