Is that because of it being outside and potentially exposed to rain?
Yes. I thought it would be a water tight seal but mine kept tripping the gfci so I opened it up and it was half full of water. I ran a piece of electrical tape over the seam and drilled a very small seep hole at the bottom. Mine is in a very spot that is guaranteed to get pelted with water so I don't blame the camera
I have the solar version and it is freaking awesome! The only reason why I'm getting this one is because I plan on putting it on the other shaded part of the house.

It would if you have other eufy products and would like to have one place for whole ecosystem recordings. If I remember, there are some additional detection benefits with the hub so if those functions are important to you go with the hub.
S330 is 2k single camera with 3,000 lumens whereas this e340 is 3k dual cameras but only 2,000 lumens. S330 is $135 from Eufy eBay store, "refurb" with a 2yr warranty

I just drilled directly in the very bottom of the mount (it's behind the camera and everything). I live in a very humid place so I figure it will let any moisture drip out
