Nice deal. Does "Fair" indicate any damage to the laptop itself?
It's a gamble, tbh. According to BB these CAN have major scratches and dents but won't affect the laptop's performance, but there have been numerous instances when buyers have reported to get them in pristine condition regardless of it being labeled as "fair".

I've only ever purchased one open-box item from BB with damage to the actual item - a laptop which was labeled "Good"! But it was priced so aggressively (and the damage was to the corner) that we kept it as our family laptop.
Check to make sure the charger is included, because that's fairly pricey to get an original charger replacement. And make sure it boots up to the Windows screen. But it's hard to be too critical because you can always return it, no questions asked, within the 14-day window.

No. I've done fair a few times. My G14 was new - based on charge cycles and packaging. The box was dusty as hell though.
A few years ago I bought a Dell gaming laptop. It was also new as far as I could tell. All the packaging was intact, zero signs of usage or original seal being broken.
You can check the condition before leaving the store. I always power on the laptop to ensure it works.

Can confirm it's a crap shoot. One "excellent" condition laptop had a cracked case and was dirty with speakers that didn't work. Another "good" condition was literally a laptop in a plastic bag with the charger and a damaged screen. Then again, another time "good" was a mint condition laptop with the box and all paperwork.
So it's totally a guessing game and you won't know what you're getting until you see it.

Open Box - Fair Condition can also indicate that something is missing from the product, such as an accessory or something more important. The laptop I recently got (was a Slick Deal) sold in "Fair" condition because it was missing the charger; the device itself was practically brand new.
I'd suggest always try to inspect the device before actually purchasing it, an employee usually won't have an issue opening an already open box item.
Best Buy's condition rating is very hit or miss. I've purchased items marked as Fair that looked brand new, and items marked as Excellent that were non-functional or missing critical components. As recommended above, ask to inspect the item before completing the purchase.
Just picked one up in Fair condition at the Chandler, AZ store. It's in good condition but not perfect, just minor wear on the rubber feet. Included the OEM charger and booted up without incident. They also had it priced in store for $730.99 so YMMV. I also purchased the Asus TUF A16 for $679.99 a few days prior so I'll compare them side by side for the next few days to see is the $60 difference is worth it. It's my first time buying a gaming laptop so appreciate any input on which laptop is a better deal.

Plus it intel vs amd in cpu and gpu.. GL let us know!
Located one in a 'fair' condition. It was in a generic Best Buy boxes, looked alright but was missing a charger. The store offered to take another $100 off for the charger, but these things seemingly cost $150+ OEM.
Got one of these from Best buy the other day
It's a marked as condition "good" and they told me it was one of the shelf display units. It didn't come with any box/accessories, just the laptop and the power cables. ngl, I was a bit suprised that they were gonna just hand me the laptop like this
The laptop runs most of the games with no issue. The only downside is the noise. It sounds like it's about to take off when I play Diablo 4. I guess this is just a common issue for gaming laptops.

Did you install ghelper? It helps, but it's still going to be loud, I have the g14. Wear noise-cancelling headphones and the world disappears around you.
