The heck? If you get something half of 2x... it's the same price.

I don't think this is a stellar deal... I think SD (and comments) have increasingly gone downhill over the years

Who can pays this much when u can get flights from lax to Japan for about $500, you don't need to be bougie and pay almost 3x economy prices, I rather save the money and indulge on Kobe steak

Great catch! This is a good deal right? I usually see the basic tickets at $800, so for premium, do others see this is good?

Also, how do you got notifications of these deals? I had Google flights price notifications on, but didn't get this good of a deal.
It's okay. We were able to get an upgrade on our last flight for 350 a seat to premium economy on JAL from Boston.

Which is fine IF your route happens to have a lot of empty seats at the last minute and there isn't anyone in economy using systemwide upgrades.

If you want a guaranteed PE seat to Japan, this is a good deal. It's not "oh my god, I never would have gone there if it weren't for this but how can I refuse?" good, but if you already had it on your list, this is a good price.

My experiences with American Airlines have been so bad, that I wouldn't fly them for free. The worst customer service, their flights are never on time so if you have a a connecting flight, good luck! If you enjoy having to sleep in the airport because of their mistakes, book a flight with AA.
I fly with them dozens of times a year and have had one flight experience in the last year that I complained about. But okay then.

That's why I said it was okay, we seem to agree. You can buy premium economy with zipair from lax for this price often too.

i'm not super tall, but I'm 6 foot 2… and it is pretty uncomfortable being on long flights with not much legroom.

but there's no way I would pay this much money to be a little bit more comfortable 😂

Ana or Jal premium economy gives you lounge access . Basically you just get a bigger seat here? It's even showing boarding group is number 4.
NEVER American Airlines again in my life time - Worst customer services.

Not on a real airline. People that have money pay for this. They aren't choosing between premium economy and steak. They just pick both.

Exactly my thoughts. Zipair roundtrip flights are from $350 to $500 all year, so there is nothing "economy" about this option.
That's for poor people. Enjoy zip air

The secret is economy used to be premium until they took away all the perks slowly. And you all fell for it.

Heh, the "worst" airline of the big 3 US is usually the one that has recently screwed something up for you, personally. They all have their PITA moments, but they're all generally more reliable flying Jet Blue/Zip/Play when things go sideways.

I's funny how Americans generally don't understand that Premium Economy for international flights is, for seating comfort and most in-flight services, the equivalent of what's sold as First Class domestically. Also, that some last-minute upgrade or solo is somehow comparable to reserving your seat months in advance for a vacation. TBF, I love solo travelling on a shoestring or by the seat of my pants, but not when I have others in tow. I'd jump on this in a minute if I were going on a couples trip or taking family.

You get what you pay for. With this price you get a little more. Whether the opinion is a good deal or not, I'd much rather see a premium or business class fare over the usual BE fares posted here.
I completely agree.

AA hasn't operated SFO to HND since the early 1990s. Perhaps you were thinking of United?
Oh sorry, actually I flew from LAX to HND on American Airlines back in November 2023. My comments still stand though--wouldn't do another international flight with them again.
