Thank you, but you made a mistake. Lenovo PSREF [lenovo.com] (Part Number : 82QD00DHUS) says 8GB Soldered DDR4-3200 and one DDR4 SO-DIMM slot so memory IS UPGRADABLE.
I believe you have replied to a wrong post (which should be here)

I have a Target version. Solid laptop. The 12gen I3 is great. My version has a fingerprint scanner - meh. I was never a fan of touch screens on a laptop but if you like it it will be good. Mine has an on board SSD with an open M.2 slot. I am an Excel/Access user with no problems. At this price point it is a solid buy.

Added a 32gb 3200 RAM module and the system recognizes 40 gb total. Replaced the shorter 256gb NVME SSD with a full-length 1TB NVME SSD after cloning the whole drive.
It takes a T5 screwdriver to remove 6 long and 4 short screws. Had to use a plastic pry tool to unclip the bottom cover after T5 screws were removed.
The screen at full brightness looks the same as a 250-nit screen side by side, even though the spec says 300-nit.

I have this laptop. Added a 16gb ram stick to upgrade it to 24gb total. It's pretty quick for everyday tasks now.

I know next to nothing about computers but am in the market for one strictly to edit gopro videos. Would this laptop be ok for that? I wouldn't need the laptop for anything else and just want to make sure this could fit this basic purpose.

Can it be used with a second monitor either by the HDMI port or by the USB-C port?

Found a partial answer in the PDF:
Yes HDMI only. No USB C Display port.

More than capable. I have two Core-i3 1215U laptops, one with 8GB, one with 16GB. Both working fine with Roblox.

Pretty easy to complete within 15 mins. There are a lot of youtube videos for this. For reference: https://youtu.be/KwV9hvTy95I
Lenovo laptops are usually easy to open the bottom cover.

Adding/replacing ram is pretty easy, the hard part is usually opening the back cover. In some laptops you have to pry them to remove the cover.

My kid wants to learn Minecraft Studio to make his own mods/games. I know that type of program (like Photoshop) uses a lot of resources on even a robust machine. How would something like this do for that purpose?

Asked Lenovo several times and they said it was only upgrade able to 16GB. Intel shows it can go upto 64GB is this a 'space/slot' issue? Can I even plug a 24GB memory into this? - i am too a non hardware tech savvy person mind you Smilie

If it's sodimm Ddr4 you're probably okay. But do a bit more checking before you purchase more RAM.

The processor is not the fastest so things will be slow probably. Also you would benefit from 8gb more ram.

Dell Inspiron 16 with AMD for $540 with 10% off would have been a much better fit for video editing. That CPU is a beast and has a good integrated graphics: https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/973653
Especially if you have Amex offers to make it more like $400-450.

The additional 8GB (totally 16GB) is likely just what they have tested in designing/manufacturing. However, as long as it's DDR4-3200 SODIMM stick, this laptop should have no problem in handling it (+16GB to 24GB totally).
This is what I have done/tried similarly with my Core-i3-1215U Lenovo laptop. (Lenovo officially saying only support 16GB).

Indeed, Crucial [crucial.com] says that it could take up to 40GB (+32GB).
According to Intel, Core i3-1215U [intel.com] can support up to 64GB memory (but this is also subject to other factors)

Really? How? The spec sheet on Lenovo says you can only insert a max 8gb stick in the empty slot? Is yours an i3? OPs is specifically for the i3 version. I know it can be upgraded in the i5 but those SKUs are different
