Thank you, but you made a mistake. Lenovo PSREF [lenovo.com] (Part Number : 82QD00DHUS) says 8GB Soldered DDR4-3200 and one DDR4 SO-DIMM slot so memory IS UPGRADABLE.
I believe you have replied to a wrong post (which should be here)

I have a Target version. Solid laptop. The 12gen I3 is great. My version has a fingerprint scanner - meh. I was never a fan of touch screens on a laptop but if you like it it will be good. Mine has an on board SSD with an open M.2 slot. I am an Excel/Access user with no problems. At this price point it is a solid buy.

Added a 32gb 3200 RAM module and the system recognizes 40 gb total. Replaced the shorter 256gb NVME SSD with a full-length 1TB NVME SSD after cloning the whole drive.
It takes a T5 screwdriver to remove 6 long and 4 short screws. Had to use a plastic pry tool to unclip the bottom cover after T5 screws were removed.
The screen at full brightness looks the same as a 250-nit screen side by side, even though the spec says 300-nit.

Ram is soldered but there is an open slot for another stick. I added a 16gb ddr4 stick thus making it 24gb and it is working fine. Here is the ram I purchased

This is a solid deal. Pre-inflation it'd be about $200. Touchscreen for this price is worth it. Dell Latitude quality will be on par with this. As for gaming, you could do Minecraft and other very light/older games. If you want to play anything close to a modern game you'll need to get a laptop with a dedicated graphics card (GPU) from Nvidia or AMD, not an integrated graphics card from Intel. These will run at least $450 or so for a low end "gaming" laptop on sale.

Thanks for the input. I think the max i would like to spend would be $400. Any dedicate GPU laptops around this price? Still have ~1 month before school year starts.

Closest that's available is this one at $500. You might find a refurb for less. Typically the word "gaming" + "laptop"= high price...

I have this laptop. Added a 16gb ram stick to upgrade it to 24gb total. It's pretty quick for everyday tasks now.
So, how's your horrible battery life?

I just saw it at Best buy. It feels cheap and $250 is about as high as I would go

If you need a backlit keyboard and prefer 14" portability then go with Dell Latitude refurb. If you prefer a number pad and 15.6 screen then this one is better.

I don have a preference on those features. How about performance and reliability?
