From what they posted, it is going to be a subset of the PS VR2 experience. Not bad as an additional use. But if you are looking primarily for a PC VR rig think the current consensus is to get a PC VR headset.

I'm not hyping it for that, nor did I say as such. Just saying none of the exclusives on Quest do anything for me. The games I'm looking forward to are all multiplatform as of now. There hasn't been a good Batman game in over a decade and I don't expect Meta to buck that trend.
Let me ask it this way then: Why should someone buy a PSVR2 over a quest, or even in addition to a quest?

Sell me on it rather than trying to shit on every point that the thing is basically failing. "that games probably going to suck", "it's only good for mini golf and workout", what is the PSVR2 killing it at at?

The Quest2 can be had for as little as $99 on sale and is still a strong guy today (at that price), the quest 3s should be coming later this year at about the same price as this deal ($300-350), the quest 3 has been able to be found for about $400 already.
Side loading content available now. Big titles available now. Lots of great sales all the time. Tons of 3rd party support. Color passthrough. Pancake lenses. Wireless (no PS5 required). PC VR support (wirelessly again) available now. Games can be refunded easily. Referrals available for discounts or getting cash from people you refer.

I like my PSVR2, but what games do you go back for? Resident evil 4 is much better on PSVR2 than on quest, but it's a one and done for me. Same for Resident Evil 8 and call of the wild. Switchback was hyped and ended up sucking. No Astrobot PSVR2 support. No PSVR 1 support, no color passthrough. PCVR requiring a dongle. I love the OLED lenses, vibration and the controls! It has some fun games! But I haven't touched the thing in a while, but used the quest3 this morning.

I'm not asking for myself, I'm asking for the other people here interested in the deal: sell them on it rather than bringing up possible rumors of possible games possibly coming out for it at some point and the quest being just crappy phone games

Nah, nothing from that time is comparable to this. Kind of expected coming from a guy who said he wanted to return it before he actually got it though.
It is what it is. The HDR isn't doing nothing for me in GT7. Maybe if I wear it right it'll be brighter lol. Fanboys gonna do their thing but this wasn't it for me. Like I said I haven't tried any of the other sets lately so maybe this isn't that bad compared to those, but it's not enough to draw me back into VR.

It is being liquidated, as Sony abandoned it. It is also extremely dated tech,
The only thing dated is the headset is its fresnel lenses. The rest of its hardware is incredibly modern and isn't even available in any other headset anywhere near its price point. Very few headsets have eye tracking and it's one of the few headsets that support HDR. It's also the only headset with force feedback built into it and there's nobody else on the market either with adaptive triggers.

Even with this price the Quest 3 still seems like the better investment.

listening to all the bickering on this forum but on this thread in general makes me feel bad for people coming in to glean any useful info about the product and the deal. I also feel sorry for those that have clear mental issues on these threads, but that's an ongoing problem on this site in general.

That said - my two cents on the actual product. It's fantastic for GT7 and the very few exclusive titles. Those exclusives are big and good enough to make the price worth it. That said, it's garbage tech compared to other VR headsets and it has no future. Sony has made it clear they are abandoning it.

Any brighter would be too much and not accurate at all. The original Rift display doesn't hold a candle to any modern headset and even suggesting so is laughable. Deluded haters looking for a reason not to own something are going to do their thing. It's okay if you can't afford the headset.

Wow I was way more interested until I saw this... thanks for the heads up- that's a really disappointing lack of backward compatibility there. Can't see legitimate reason why my PSVR Beat Saber shouldn't work on this.
FYI I believe beat saber gave a free PS5 version upgrade to PS4 vs owners, I know I have both and never bought the PS5 version (or a PSVR2, yet...)

My $.02, I've had the PSVR2 since launch and have enjoyed it, though admittedly have limited use of it. The only VR I've had besides it is PSVR, and this is SO much better than the original. The original PSVR was good for what it was, but was really clunky in its approach, with the camera setup and Move controllers. Sony did a bang up job with the design of the PSVR2 along with its controllers. Being able to readjust your play area on the fly is a HUGE win (no more having to face your TV and risk punching it). I wish that it was cordless, but it's honestly not that big of a deal for me (I do love that it's just 1 simple cord rather than the rat's nest of PSVR). The biggest negative against it for me is the lack of the compatibility with the PSVR games, where I'd built up a decent library but can't really use them now. I understand the reasoning why they aren't backwards compatible, but it still sucks nonetheless.

It is disappointing how Sony has mishandled the support of it, but there are some really solid games out there. GT7 as people have mentioned, is one of the best gaming experiences I've had. Of course, I immediately got a wheel and racing seat to go with it, which I think is really necessary to get the full immersive experience. There's lots of horror games which get great reviews, but I have no interest in horror games, especially in VR, so I'm really missing out in that segment. There's a bunch of good 3rd party games out there though, I recommend the youtube channel Without Parole [youtube.com] for good honest reviews and news of PSVR2 titles.

The main reason I don't play it more often is the same limitation of any other VR setup out there, namely the process of putting on the headset, and if you're doing a game that requires any movement, setting up the space for it. I have a limited size living room, so have to scoot some furniture around if I'm playing any sort of active title. If I'm just wanting to lounge and play a game, the tried and true flat screen gaming is the easy way to go.

All in all, while the Sony and PSVR support, or lack thereof, is disappointing, I still feel like the PSVR2 is worth it, especially if you've got a PS5. Hard to say how it will compare to the PC headsets with the new adapter and whether the value will be there.

About time this went on sale. It's getting official pc support soon.
I have a quest 3 so I won't get it, but if you don't mind a wired setup, this does offer oled screens and potentially eye tracking for foveated rendering though I heard that's not going to be officially supported on the PC app.

PC support lacks a lot of features: HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, etc. I wonder if they can clear out the inventory at this price.

Like others have said, GT7 is the crown jewel- its crazy how something like this exists.. just make sure you bring the dramamine.
Arizona Sunshine 2 is also a great pick up.
No kidding about Dramamine. I bought PSVR2 full price just for GT7... then I felt sick playing it.
