thanks
This high speed ratchet is my top basic tool otherwise. I had a 18v Ingersoll rand before getting the slower version and didn't use it much, but used the smaller Milwaukee one all the time. Then got this one and the older fuel one but that has a fatter head that makes it annoying.
But, it saves time and effort when spinning lots of bolts as well.
If you're removing 1 plug to drain oil and 1 plug to drain your trans, then it would be of little benefit.
But, if you are removing 14 bolts to remove your oil pan to change the gasket. 12 bolts to drop the trans pan, 9 bolts on each of your 2 valve covers to change those gaskets, an electric ratchet makes life soooo much easier.
Take the trans pan for example. 8mm bolts that are low torque, so you just use the electric. Socket on bolt, 1/8th twist to break, then hit trigger and its off in 2 seconds. On to the next one. All 12 bolts off in under 2 mins with almost 0 effort. When you put pan back on, hand thread all bolts to start then grab ratchet and zip to snug. Give 1/4 turn manually then on to next one. Finish with torque wrench.
When i first looked at getting one, i considered it a luxury. Now? It's a necessity.
Impact wrench is same way. Sure, i can use a breaker and then a lug wrench or ratchet and remove lugnuts in 5 mins. Or, i can use an impact wrench and spin them off in 10 seconds with the press of a finger.
