Just run the debloat wizard and it'll give you recommendations on what to disable.
I called and they got me the deal but I think i no longer get free Amazon Prime as a long time Metro account holder. They messed with my account to make me eligible and in hindsight I'd rather get Amazon Prime for free than an unneeded tablet for $20.

The $20 is not used until the tablet line is activated.
Actually if you never activate the tablet line, the $20 will be applied to your account as $20 credits and reduce your bill for next month by $20.
If you don't care about unlocking the tablet and using the tablet line service, you can actually use the $20 towards your phone bill on the same account and save $20, and the tablet is 100% free and you don't even pay extra for its monthly fee as soon as you don't activate the tablet line and you also use metro's phone service on the same account.
The $20 tablet line fee is also prorated. If you activate the tablet right in the middle of your billing cycle, $10 will be used for the current billing cycle and the rest $10 will be applied to next billing cycle as credits.
If you have activated the tablet line, you need to unlink the tablet from your metro account so that you can use it on another metro account or wait 60 days for automatic unlink.

You can use it as wifi only device or on t-mobile postpaid freely.
You can't reuse the sim card for other metro accounts.

Does the tablet get its own account automatically after 60 days, so now you have two Metro accounts?
AND,
What's the purpose of the auto unlink, just separating it???
AND,
What if one wants to have both devices, the phone and the tablet, under one account???
The tablet 60 day automatic unlink doesn't make much sense.
Also note that T-Mo and Metro have been trying to push subscribers to higher revenue plans for the past year or so, SO one has to be vigilant in being involuntarily switched to a higher cost plan, even one with better features.

After unlink, the phones/tablets can be used on other metro accounts.
Good to know, thanks.
You don't need to insert the sim now for the timer to start, but after 12 months, you still need to insert a metro sim card inside so that the tablet can load metro bloatwares and the metro network unlock app to actually unlock the tablet, if you want to unlock it.
I have legacy BYOD plan and had to call in. Got 2 tablets at $50+ plan each, and then 1 at Free + plan. ($160+ tax for 3 tablets last time).
I ordered 2 tablets this time around. tried for the 3rd, yesterday and earlier today, but no go.

It looks like there are 2 types of Metro customers here:
1. Those who are already cell phone customers with good plans and want to remain so.
2. Those who are not already cell phone customers but just enroll in a cell phone plan temporarily for a month, do not want to remain permanent, but just want to get the tablet on the cheap.
These customers wouldn't care about their Metro account with the cell phone and the tablet disappearing after 60 days, as they just want to keep the tablet for a year to unlock it or sell it.
The #1 customers above do not want to lose their cell phone plan account but want to activate the tablet for a month or so and then disconnect it, either to keep it for a year to get it unlocked or just sell it.
These customers before the next billing period starts have the option to either port out the tablet's phone #, or call CS to delete it from their Metro cell phone account that they want to keep active, or just not activate it at all and either sell it or keep it but locked to Metro, and in this case their $20 first month's payment will be used to pay for their cell phone service.
If there are additional options for either customer type please state.
