Have both P7 and P8. Yes, the P8 is slightly more comfortable... has HDMI output (finally)... and longer software support.

Still, unless I absolutely needed HDMI output, I wouldn't upgrade. And if I needed that, I wouldn't have bought a P7 in the first place.

There's no way the low-RAM version of Gemini on the standard P8 is worth the upgrade. It literally does nothing worth that today.

Not sure if this will help you. My fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 7a was pretty bad too. I saw a recommendation online, to add a few fingerprints, but to just use the same finger for all of them. Maybe try that. It's made my fingerprint scanner much more reliable.

I remember a few years ago, people could upgrade from a Pixel 6 to Pixel 7 for $20. that was a steal. too bad they dont have such an offer anymore

I saw this too. 350 for Galaxy S22. If ordering now for in-store pickup tomorrow, you can actually wait until after the Pixel 9 announcement? Do they charge the credit card now?

Yeah, BB let's you extend the pickup for like 3 weeks iirc. I think they do charge the cc right away tho, but if you cancel the pickup, they just give a full refund w/o any restocking fee or anything

How is the fingerprint sensor in 8? Mine on 7 is completely garbage.

Personally, I don't use it, but I also haven't heard anyone say it's way better either.

I still daily drive a Pixel 5 (via LineageOS 21, which also imports driver blobs from Pixel 5a), which has the best sensor on a Pixel yet.

Strange, my 7 is excellent. The only time it fails is when I've got grease (from working on bike) on the fingers, and even then it usually works if I do a quick wipe off. And I've got a screen protector on it as well...

$155 for a Pixel 4a trade in doesn't seem bad.

I was going to comment the same thing! For whatever reason, my Pixel 7 unlocks 10x easier with my LEFT thumb than my right. I registered both, and since I'm right handed I always try my right thumb first, it usually fails 2-3 times and then I'll try my left thumb and it'll open right away. YMMV

Sorry if I was unclear. The verbiage that the device uses was making it a bit hard for me to clarify, and the idea seems a bit counter intuitive. I meant having multiple fingerprint registrations of the same finger on the same hand. On my Pixel 7a, if I go to my Settings->Security->Fingerprint Unlock screen, I see "Finger 1", "Finger 2", Finger 3", etc., but for each one of those, I used the same finger on the same hand. So in your case, it would mean adding your right thumb multiple times. It seems that my device at least, either doesn't recognize, or doesn't care, that I have multiple registered fingerprints, even though they're all actually of the same finger on the same hand. I'm guessing it makes it more reliable, because registering a finger once, might not capture enough information from the finger, but registering it multiple times, increases the chances that at least one of those registrations will be matched when you try to use the fingerprint unlock. Then again, I am basing this on anecdotal evidence, so take it as you will.

Will wait for the pro 9 trade ins, but Google usually prioritizes older pixels and iPhones rather than the last gen owners.
