Buy 13th or 14th Feb i5 xx600k. Better performance than this plus ddr5.
Is it confirmed xx600 does not have the Oxidation issue?

Anything over 65W has issues (including 600k) but it sounds like 14700k and 14900k are the most impacted

Without exact dates and serial numbers published we'll never know. They're refusing to "confirm" anything and everything is legal double speak. I was such a intel fan but not anymore

It seems like once Apple made their own ARM, it has given Intel fits
in the market.

Are the days of $800-$1000 high-end home cpu's over?

For me, I have hesitation about purchasing Intel products at this time due to several concerning developments within the company. Recent news highlights significant struggles that Intel is facing, including substantial layoffs and cost-cutting measures. These actions raise serious questions about the future support for their products, including software, CPUs, and the Arc GPU line.

If you didn't know Intel has announced plans to reduce its workforce by approximately 15,000 roles, which represents 15% of its total employees. This decision is part of a broader strategy to achieve $10 billion in cost savings by 2025. While these measures may be necessary for Intel's financial health, they also introduce uncertainty regarding the continued development and support of their products, particularly in areas like Arc GPUs and future CPU generations.

Moreover, Intel has a history of disappointing its customers, and recent issues with the 13th and 14th generation CPUs suggest that this pattern may be repeating. The combination of these factors makes it difficult to justify investing in Intel products at this time, as the long-term support and reliability of these products are in question. I only hope that Intel recovers from this sooner rather than later and comes back strong - competition is good for the consumer.

I wonder does this affect the 12th gen too.... for example, the 13400f is essential a locked down 12600k and the 13400f is on the effected list... it's worth a thought.

Just avoid all 13th and 14th gen Intel, period. There's multiple issues involved, not just one. Oxidation from the fab is one issue but the even bigger issue is bad microcode instructions inside all 13th+ gen. No one (aside from Intel chief engineer perhaps) knows exactly how widespread the problem is.

Some sources are saying even laptop chips from 13th+ gen are having significantly higher failure rates than previous gen.

This particular chip is 11th gen so no problem there. However, it's a crappy deal. It's noticably slower in both multicore and single core performance than the i7-12700K chip that often sells for $180. This 11900K for $250 is not a good deal in comparison.

You can get better CPUs from AMD. This belongs in the e-waste bin.

I'm an Intel fanboy and I agree.

It's still a lot of processing power for the money.

My last personal build was an i7-12700K. For those looking, Amazon currently has it for $200. Amazon also has the i7-12700KF for $189.
