Honestly , I don't think this is just a kids tablet. It is good for more than 90% of tablet users.

We bought two of these for my kids from target a few months back while they were $250 after years of shitty fire tablets. Worth every penny. Kids can actually play the games without crazy lab and crashing. Fantastic kids tablet.

Downvote me if you want, but I regret getting this and not shelling out extra for an Air. It's slow, outdated, and while this is not going to be an issue for most atm, it's the only lightning device I have now.

It's still too expensive IMO for a tablet from 2021. The 10th gen will be a better choice for futureproofing, which costs only $90 more.

I thought this was a good price to pay for an iPad. But when I looked I saw lastest version, the 10th generation is on sale for $50 off. Which makes it just $70 more than this one. Might as well pay the $70 and get the faster processor and more ram.

The Fire Max 11 is the exact same price and this is far superior to that.
This a sale price. The fire max 11 with 128 gb has been on sale for $160.

Don't buy Amazon tablets for kids unless you plan on buying their Kids+ subscription

The Kids+ is honestly the best thing on the market for kids.
A subscription to apps/movies/books, kinda like Apple Arcade, but entirely designed for your kid and age appropriate. They review and vet every single video/app/book so you don't get any creepy stuff. It also functions as an alternative launcher that absolutely locks the kid out of doing sketchy stuff. The launcher controls app time/video time, and can even be set to require them to do educational stuff before they get fun. Very granular controls. You can manually block any app/video you want. You can even allow/disallow web browser with filters for specific sites. Its great and worth it. Apple/Google offer absolutely nothing like it

If you aren't buying kids+, there tablets are absolute trash and I would never buy one. As soon as my kid aged out of Kids+, I bought them an ipad

Worth for the extra warranty and return policy if you're a member.

True, but at this price point it's good for kids if you want an Apple product.
I'm in the market for 256GB or better model for my kids.

The OS and system files take up almost 20GB of space. Photos, messages, and a couple of apps take up the rest. My daughter plays Minecraft and downloads stuff… her installation is up to 15GB alone just for Minecraft. Son uses Procreate and Procreate Dreams, together take about 8GB for the apps alone, not counting their creations.

If they're just watching YouTube or whatever on it then I'd say it's fine, but beware if your kids want to expand the use beyond that. You'll also always need around 10GB free for OS updates.

Personally I'm never getting a 64GB model again. It used to be fine, but the bloat is real.

Good deal but I remember getting this at Target last year for $180 when there was a target circle offer plus the 5% redcard discount.
actually this is legit and was a major deal, just search slickdeals keywords $180, ipad, target

My family and I all have iPads. We all use it every day, especially my parents. It was honestly, one of the best purchases I have ever made as gifts for my parents.

Important tip: Get the iPad 256 GB. You don't think you will need it, but you will, if you end up using your iPad a lot. My parents love looking at pictures of the grandkids on the iPad, which takes up memory.

If you get the 64 GB, the iPad will only be good for internet surfing, YouTube and streaming music.

My kids are playing Roblox and some other small games. 64Gb is plenty for them. YMMV with storage requirements.

After struggling to fit kids games on a 32GB 2018 iPad I got the 256GB model of this 9th gen as an Amazon Warehouse deal for $325.

Obviously it's a huge YMMV but the one I got in July was originally purchased in May and still had the rest of the 1yr of warranty.
