WARNING!
STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS TRASHY DESIGN! THESE SUBS WILL FAIL ON YOU! ITS NOT IF BUT WHEN.

I bought a pair of these 2 years ago and they didnt even last a year before failure. They both failed about 2 months apart. I replaced both amps under warranty and one has already blown. The other is making loud crackling sounds and already needs to be replaced. I dont turn them up loud and they live a gentle life. I saw the good price and bought them based on the Klipsch brand name... HUGE MISTAKE!!!!

So read this comment and the dozens of others who got screwed by this crappy design and avoid it at all costs.

Nope. This one is still known to be bad; the RP series have a 5y warranty and are more likely to last

$399 is so cheap for these that two of them of them would outperform a single RP-1400 for $699, maybe even a single RP-1600 for $899, and if you got 2-3 years of regular use out of them they would probably still be worth it (assuming you have a moderate amount of disposable income)

It's probably not worth the headache.

I currently have an SVS-PB100 (non-pro). How much of an upgrade, if any, would this be?

Also, any thoughts on a dual sub setup with two different subs? My AVR has two sub outs and Audyssey for bass management, but I don't think it supports independent settings for each sub.

Theater room is 15' x 12'.
You might want to ask those questions on the more audio-centered forums as pretty much if you ask five average people their opinions on audio and visual equipment you will get five dramatically different answers the more experienced someone has the more likely you will start to see people agreeing but really a/v is very much about personal preference / placement. Every room has a different sound quality depending on what is sitting in it what is on the walls with the walls are made of with the floors made of with the ceiling is made of etc to explain at least a chunk of the audio personal preference IMHO, but on the forums you may actually get opinions involving measuring equipment and sonic isolation, etc.

That said these are known to have wonky amplifiers and replacing equipment even under warranty is annoying (out of warranty it's annoying and expensive.) Compared to your 10" (when functioning properly) it won't be quite as musical response wise plus if the respective specs are accurate (comparing between mfgs isn't always apples to apples) your current sub will go lower for movie use but these subs when in the range that they shine will deliver more power so balancing the two subs would be more challenging when using multiple subs to fill in blank spaces in the room. However if you simply want more power you could mate the two subwoofers physically next to each other to create more power where you already like it. But again this sub is... not great quality control, however Klipsch does honor their warranties so if the price and specs sound good to you go for it but again sonically you probably be best off putting them next to each other.

I should note I'm a little insane and am willing to sacrifice some technical precision in the pursuit of more power so my current setup in a ~500sqft room with 7' ceilings is 3 of monoprice's value 15s (3+ yrs old?) in a row under my center channel (polk CSI A6 from the firesale after the model retired), 2 cheap dj 3 way 15s for the L/R, 2 cheap dj 3 way dual 12s for the surround, and 2 former center speakers (a polk cs10 and an infinity Primus pc351) for the rears (plus a 100w shaker attached to my side of the couch.) I also have 51 year old ears 🤣

I have 2 of these from a couple years ago, and 2 Svs pb-2000 these of course dig way deeper being 15 vs 12 and go louder with out distortion. I put the 2 spl's in front and 2 Svs in back.. if your receiver has dual sub out you can adjust their crossover per channel and split the sub out with a y adapter

You can just replace the amp? Do you have to modify the OEM box?

Honestly, the apparent fix for the amp is like $6 in parts as per videos tutorials on YouTube. For the price, hard to beat the output.

Maybe. You could get lucky and find one that matches. Either way should be simple with a piece of MDF of Plaxiglas.

I bought one of these last time they were on sale. It replaced a jamo c910 that would bottom out when launching on helldivers 2 lol. This thing is ridiculous. It shakes my house, my shop, my neighbors house, his shop, my cat ran off for awhile. I love it, my wife not so much.

People need to stop with flooding these threads with commentary.
I always thought this place was for posting deals and thanking people for deals.

PS: this burns me a bit I didn't wait it out for more $$$ off Frown
Thus far I am happy with mine for the money invested. I also don't run some wave sweeps at +12db bottoming it out either.
