If you have any desire to get an iPad (and you don't have any higher-end specific needs), this is a bargain.

For $200, you can run virtually any iPad application or iPhone application. It's an entirely capable device -- there's nothing "wrong" or poorly constructed with this model. Yes, other models have nicer features -- but they come at additional costs.

It's also relatively newish -- only one generation removed from current. So you'll get a few years of use out of it before Apple end-of-lifes it, just to get you to "upgrade".

This ipad plus one of those cheap android tracfones (even if you don't activate them on cellular) will give you the ability to run pretty much any mobile application available.

There are frequent sales on 13" M1 Macbook Airs (they are a 4 year old machine at this point), as well as sales on refurbished Dell business-class laptops (8th gen intel and later). For around $1000, you can get one device of each platform. No excuse to not be able to get anything done.

Wow what a deal. I know, it from 2021 and 64GB however it is perfect for internet browsing and social media consumption which is for 90% of folks out there.

Headphone jack and a home button are nice too!

Are you joking? Only $20 savings for an open return that is in fair condition is a fool's savings. Can get $10 off just with a target card.

Is tax included when counting $250+ spend? Also any good fillers to take it over $250?

For Amazon the Discover $10 off $75 works if you are eligible and haven't used it yet.

does the $250 need to include an accessory? or as long as you purchase over $250?

What is the benefit of owning this compared to an Amazon Fire 10 HD tablet? The latest one has 3GB RAM and will be fine for most people. It's plastic, but it's only $99 and you should be able to sideload Google Play onto it.
You can't compare iPad build quality and features, also the amount of apps and support for them in the Apple store is way better than the fire app store. You may be able to side load Google play store but I don't have any experience with that. Even with 3gb my nieces say Roblox crashes and they're glitchy. I've had multiple fire tablets and overall haven't had the best experience. They've been glitchy and sluggish in need of constant force stops and reboots and the plastic shell just feels so cheap.

I've had a couple screens that just scramble like they're on the way out. My 2019 HD10 just crapped out after the 3yr warranty expired like 10 days after it lol. The only Amazon tablet I would consider right now is the Amazon Fire Max 11" with 4gb RAM and 128gb storage it's $169.99 with lock screen ads or $189.99 without them. One of the plusses is if you're on a tight budget you can pay $38/mo interest free for 5mo with the Amazon monthly payments.

I think that money would be better spent on a quality protective case and accessories. It's hard to justify a $55 warranty on a $199.99 product.

I would normally agree and a spare would only be twice the cost of applecare plus one repair, but depends on how often your kid usually drops or throws it over the course of 2 years. Big Grin

I'm not into the Apple ecosystem at all.
I'm exploring tablet type devices for taking and writing notes by pencil, drawings for online meetings, and some light MS Office work.

How is this tablet for such things?
Are there better non-Apple alternatives (including 2 in 1 laptops)?

I've never been too much of an Apple fan because of their higher prices and often lower specs for the price you do pay but their build quality and product longevity is pretty darn amazing so I just jumped on this the other day using an Ubereats coupon I got it for $190.55 plus tip and am very happy with it so far.

You can always buy it and test it out and if you don't like it return it. You can get 3rd party accessories dirt cheap on Amazon. I got a apple pencil knock off with 5 replacement tips for like $11 or something and a case with keyboard for around $25 and they work great.

Thanks.
Do you have links for the pencil and the keyboard?
Inexpensive pencils especially would help lots. Don't want to shell out another $100 for a pencil.

Wondering if it's worth trading my current 9th gen for $140 and getting this just to reset Applecare…

I just purchased two this morning. One for the wife and one for me. I had to look at multiple stores as the first couple of Targets were sold out. We had older ipads that would not update etc. We have been using Fire Tablets but at this price and with the Red Card discount, It was $415 all in including tax. No brainer for us.
