If you have any desire to get an iPad (and you don't have any higher-end specific needs), this is a bargain.

For $200, you can run virtually any iPad application or iPhone application. It's an entirely capable device -- there's nothing "wrong" or poorly constructed with this model. Yes, other models have nicer features -- but they come at additional costs.

It's also relatively newish -- only one generation removed from current. So you'll get a few years of use out of it before Apple end-of-lifes it, just to get you to "upgrade".

This ipad plus one of those cheap android tracfones (even if you don't activate them on cellular) will give you the ability to run pretty much any mobile application available.

There are frequent sales on 13" M1 Macbook Airs (they are a 4 year old machine at this point), as well as sales on refurbished Dell business-class laptops (8th gen intel and later). For around $1000, you can get one device of each platform. No excuse to not be able to get anything done.

Wow what a deal. I know, it from 2021 and 64GB however it is perfect for internet browsing and social media consumption which is for 90% of folks out there.

Headphone jack and a home button are nice too!

Are you joking? Only $20 savings for an open return that is in fair condition is a fool's savings. Can get $10 off just with a target card.

I'm trying to talk myself out of buying this and iPad cover keyboard combo for $50 [target.com]. What do y'all think?
  • iPad mini 7th generation is what I'd like to own but:
It hasn't been announced or released yet
Cost, it will probably start at $399+
  • iPad 9th generation - Ideally I'd like 256GB, more dreaming, if this was $250 @ 256GB it would be a no brainer.
  • iPad 10th generation - I'd like to have USB-C, more RAM and be more future-proof but that costs more.

With BF/CM around the corner (102 days) I might buy this and consider trading in at Best Buy which offers $165 [bestbuy.com] as of today 8/19/2024. Assuming the trade in value remains consistent that's only $35 to effectively rent this iPad for almost 4 months.

Is my logic sound, what am I missing?
Black Friday gets worse every year. I'm sure BB will slash all their trade in prices by then. But at $200 you can probably sell it in a year for $120, and you're now renting it for $10 a month for 1 year, and can pick up a new one in BF 2025. I think that makes more sense than trying to flip it after 4 months.

I really need something more has than 64gb at this price. My kids still has 16gb with the OS we probably have couple gigs left over which is not enough for Roblox and games. The iPad still in good physical condition the storage is just terrible . This is why my head is turning toward galaxy A9+
I am sorry, I was a little confused with your post. You don't own the IPAD 9th gen , right? If you have an much older IPAD that had 16gb storage I can see why you want higher storage. Your first sentence should be " I need something (a device) that has more then 64gb storage. My kids has very old Ipad with 16 gb storage and it is not enough to play their games on it. (yes, you are right, 16gb is not enough). Your post was very confused, but it sounds like you think the galaxy a9plus would work out better for you (more storage plus it has micrSD slot you can add 1TB if you want.)

Can your kids play those games on 64gb IPAD 9th gen? I would think so, no problems and probably much newer specs than the very old ipad they have. There are youtube videos that compare the ipad 9th gen 64gb model to the galaxy a9 plus. Maybe watch them to see what other peoples experience with both of them. People seem to think the IPAD 9th gen is a better constucted device, and they like the apples games on IPAD, and like other features. I do have android tablets and it is different experience then apple . Maybe get both devices. I have both android tablets and chromebooks , etc ... the IPAD does seem better constructed product and more polished. Is this for you or your kids, again I wasn't sure. Research which device would hold up better? In either case, you were sharing your concepts to us, and your first post was like a first draft. Maybe you can expand on your points after watching some youtube videos comparing IPAD 9th gen vs Galaxy A9 PLUS.

I'm not into the Apple ecosystem at all.
I'm exploring tablet type devices for taking and writing notes by pencil, drawings for online meetings, and some light MS Office work.

How is this tablet for such things?
Are there better non-Apple alternatives (including 2 in 1 laptops)?
The one thing I don't like about this is it's somewhat heavy especially to hold with one hand. It wrecks my fingers/wrist if I lay in bed watching media for more than an hour. I would definitely find one to actually get your hands on before purchasing.

good point, holding it one handed in bed for an hour would be painful and scary, if you drop the IPAD and it hits a wood floor or other hard floors, repaired could be costly.

Maybe investigate ipad cases and stands for your IPAD, or do research on using IPAD in bed. I lay on my side in bed with IPAD, and have case for it, maybe others can offer us suggestions. How about a stand that stands 3 feet high and swings into the bed ... and can hold the IPAD, so it doesn't fall, so if you fall a sleep it is safe and protected. I am just brain-storming , since I share the same concern on what is better way to use IPAD in bed safely.

That is exactly the case I have been looking at. My 6th gen has a Procase as well. Is this the A2602 model? I couldn't find it on the Amazon webpage?

Just ordered it, thanks!

What's a good case that I can attach and detach a keyboard? One without a keyboard? Not bulky but is a good medium between protection and comfort to use.

gee, I'm a chatter box tonight. Smilie

I shared my IPAD case that keeps it simple and light-weight in above post. Now I will talk about the IPAD 9th gen case I bought with keyboard and place to store pencil. It is heavier, and does work, but I hardly use it, since I use just the simple-light weight case mostly.

Fintie Keyboard Case for iPad 9th / 8th / 7th Generation (2021/2020/2019) 10.2 Inch, Soft TPU Back Stand Cover with Pencil Holder, Magnetically Detachable Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard, Black currently 29 dollars.

I'm not recommending it or recommending it .... and it works great when I used it , but maybe research it yourself and see what you come up with. I will put the IPAD I receive in an hour in this case, and see if it gets me to use the keyboard and pencil I bought but have not used (yet). Smilie

Thanks for the clarifying, I just didn't want you to buy a case that didn't fit your ipad 9th gen, sounds like you made sure case fit your IPAD. Cool.

you're paying about half the price of a new IPAD but also you're going to get about half the lifespan of a new IPAD as apple will stop updating this version eventually. you probably still get 4 or 5 years out of it but just something to think aobut
That's still double the lifespan of the best Samsung tablet available
