If you have any desire to get an iPad (and you don't have any higher-end specific needs), this is a bargain.

For $200, you can run virtually any iPad application or iPhone application. It's an entirely capable device -- there's nothing "wrong" or poorly constructed with this model. Yes, other models have nicer features -- but they come at additional costs.

It's also relatively newish -- only one generation removed from current. So you'll get a few years of use out of it before Apple end-of-lifes it, just to get you to "upgrade".

This ipad plus one of those cheap android tracfones (even if you don't activate them on cellular) will give you the ability to run pretty much any mobile application available.

There are frequent sales on 13" M1 Macbook Airs (they are a 4 year old machine at this point), as well as sales on refurbished Dell business-class laptops (8th gen intel and later). For around $1000, you can get one device of each platform. No excuse to not be able to get anything done.

Wow what a deal. I know, it from 2021 and 64GB however it is perfect for internet browsing and social media consumption which is for 90% of folks out there.

Headphone jack and a home button are nice too!

Are you joking? Only $20 savings for an open return that is in fair condition is a fool's savings. Can get $10 off just with a target card.

I agree, I got the S9 FE, what a mistake. I can't play any games, so laggy.

this is a great ipad, but 64gb is really limited. its hard to recommend anything under 128gb
But it's really not? At least not to a lot of people. My mom has a 128gb phone and iPad mini and has less than 40gb used after several years. My 128 phone had 80 but that's because I had apps that weren't used in years and when I swapped phones and deleted, I'm well under 64 and haven't had an issue. My iPad Air 5 is a 64 and my main usage is streaming, cloud gaming, and a few light games and is under 40gb used.

This is a $200 buy. Anyone buying is absolutely won't need 128.

Would 128 be better? Of course but it's absolutely not needed. Stop being stupid, stupid.

My iPad is a 32gb 6th gen that is running out, or is out, of memory. I'm tempted as a mofo to jump on this.

there is a number of videos on youtube where others share their feelings about using Ipad 6th gen in 2024. So I would advise watching those videos and then make an educated decision. There are options to keep it with newest OS, research it , I did.
How is your battery life? Maybe delete apps and do a factory reset to see if you can give it a refresh and free up some storage.

Maybe others can share what they are doing. This IPAD 9th gen with 64gb is great price of 199 dollars. Maybe watch videos comparing the IPAD 6th gen vs IPAD 9th gen. Also, maybe having 2 ipads is another option. a ipad 6th gen and Ipad 9th gen. Take a few hours to research and KNOW you did your homework.
ipad 6th gen was from 2018

Just wondering what this prime savings you are referring to?

Good question. I went into this deal thinking that I was going to pay $199 plus tax. Instead (at checkout), I was surprised that the final price was $199 - $20 plus tax. For some reason, I received a second $20/10% discount.

I'm not complaining ...

I WISH I had your problem! My 6th gen is failing from a dead/dying battery. I only get about 30-45 min on a charge. The battery meter will stick at 100% for a while then drop precipitously until it dies with no warning. Really disappointed in Apple on this issue. So much so that I went out and bought a replacement?

I have iPad new (as they called it). From 2012. It still working just fine except its screen is shattered on one edge.

The battery life on mine is fine. My issue seems to be storage. I'm sure there are apps I could delete and probably some photos. 64gb sounds like a lot to me considering I'm just now hitting 32gb. I have no clue how long I've had this thing, but it's been years and would have likely been purchased via some kind of deal like this. The one I have now replaced an iPad II. With the exception of storage, this one is functioning much better than my iPad II when it was replaced.

I'm pretty sure I'm still getting iOS updates, but maybe I'm not. I'm on 16.6.1. and looks like the latest version might be 17.6.1. I'm not too Apple savvy. It's primarily a media consumption device for me. I also use it to order food that I consume.

That is a bummer. My battery life is still pretty good. I use the Calm app quite a bit, every night and even during the day, and I would say I charge once per day. I can't even remember what my battery life was like when it was new.

Does anyone know if this has hardware support for decoding and encoding HEVC (h.265) videos? I'm looking for a decent travel device for editing 4k 60fps videos from my drone and action cam.

Like iPhone SE the 9th gen ipad will not go away. It's the last ipad with home button and headphone jack, which is still in demand for business and industrial use

You should really buy an M series iPad if you need encoding capabilities.
