I recommend combining this set with this driver. It's my main driver set now. I love it:

Seems like a solid deal. I don't have any Vessel Tool products but, based on their reputation, I pulled the trigger on this one.

What I like about this kit is, for those of us that use both metric and imperial, this has an awesome selection of bits. I have a Wera bit-check 30-piece kit and ended up swapping out a bunch of bits to pretty much match the selection of this Vessel kit off the shelf. The Wera kit annoyingly doubles up on Torx by having both regular and security bits.

Looks like a good deal and I can always use more bit sets but I'll probably pass on this as I wish this came with an h8 bit. I have a few old bikes that need the h8 size for the crank if I remember correctly.

For that, I prefer a longer bit anyway. Something like these:

Hex Bit:

These bit holders are compatible with US and Japanese anvil standards:

I am in love with "ball-ended" hex bits, is that what they're called? I used a throwaway one to assemble a crib, and being allowed to use any angle saved me so much time.

Does Vessel brand make a full set of US and metric? My Amazon search doesn't even return back the one you posted, just a bunch of random stuff...

unfortuneatly these are not what i would consider ball end; they have a ball built into the shank (middle) to strengthen against breaking for impact use. Something I personally have not experienced.

Nice tools for someone whom uses them more often than I do, but I have this assortment from buying other tool kits and don't see the value in redundancy.

Thanks. I may buy the hex bit set for for weird angles. Vessel products are nice. I'm one of those sd tool hoarders cause of "just in case."

I prefer straight bits though. I find I strip out softer fasteners (like stainless chainring bolts) with ball sometimes. Maybe I'm not using it right. Plus I think you can torque straight bits higher without fear the ball may snap.

I have the same driver and it drives me nuts as it's always switching direction - do I need to hold it somehow differently? Other than that, the quality and feel are great

Maybe so. You put the ball in the palm, and the fingers on the shaft rubber.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

It's all subjective though. No harm in using a bit holder from Wera, Klein, or whoever if it suits you better.

of course, but I expected a better design from Vessel. and if you read comments under Amazon's listing, they're pretty much in line with my experience

I definitely think straight ones support more torque, but a bicycle really shouldn't have much torque on the hex bolt components. The bottom bracket and cassette probably have the most torque, but they aren't small hex wrench things anyway.

The ball ones should not strip fasteners on a bike if they are somewhat in-line. Obviously at some point far enough off axis, they will cam out. For the roughly 5 or 10 degrees off axis a person gets working standing on something low to the ground like on a bike, it shouldn't be an issue, but straight hex wrenches are great too.

Its always this price, not worth the full retail price. FYI, these are 30mm bits as compared to 1" that most may be used to. Also the included adapter is a total POS item that Vessel added as a filler. Otherwise, the bits are super high quality.

Not a single ball torsion joke? Is SD slipping?

In all seriousness, though, I can't find a single piece of information on what good the ball is. It definitely isn't a ball end hex like some of these comments are mistakenly saying.

These bits take a good abuse, however the ball torsion reduces the end torque at the tip and increases life of the bit. For e.g if you use the M12 1500 inch-lbs impact, you would get around 500-600 inch-lb with this bit, it saves your bit though.
