Great product but terrible retailer. This was shipped/returned 4 times and at the end I just gave up and cancelled the order.
Reason: This is a very heavy device (47.2 lbs). Manufacturer Packaging is not that good. Retailer just put a shipping label and send it to the house. Every time packaging and the product was damaged. I requested to ship inside an additional layer. Customer care noted my request but no one care.

Reaching out to the customer care and explaining the issue repeatedly is painful.
After cancelling the order - I was expecting product amount to be returned in the originally form of the payment but got an store credit. I had to call few times to resolve it.

On a side note - it was sold at $1600 in July.

I would recommend this product but not the retailer.

I would not be buying something like this from Newegg. Their return policy and customer service is the worst. They are not what they used to be and that is an understatement.

Looks like Denon 3800 is dead. Adorama still had it for less at $900-1000 last year

How much better is the yamaha A8 for $1750 vs denon 3800?

The 4800 and A8A are not at their all time lows and have recently been on same for less. I missed out on the 3800 but that seems like it would've been close to all time low

I feel the quality of sound is way better with Denon. Glad I ordered the 3800 last night.

Got it earlier this year and absolutely love the upgrade. I'd say subwoofer upgrade was still the most improvement for me, but overall the quality of the sound and especially center channel is much more clear with Denon 3800.

Great to know. I'd upgrade my entire speaker set to Atmos-enabled ones (Klipsch) and wanted a capable receiver. Had bought 2800 on sale few weeks back from Amazon but really wanted 3800 for future proof. Timing worked out as I can return the 2800 now.

People often say these all sound the same.
If true comes down to features you need/want.

If you need all 11 channels & rated at 150 per channel then the A8A might be the better choice.

If you plan to use the pre outs and down need that much power for all your speakers, the 3800 has more features.

Here is a comparison of the two.

They used to be the best. Since when they changed?

Did slickdeals scrub their search history? I can't find the x3800 deals from last year or some other past deals.

Keep an eye on BestBuy return date, typically it is 14 days only, unless you are higher tier member.

I read the opposite on typical forums. At same level of AVR, Yamaha in general sounds better for music. Denon has better room correction.

Not saying your experience is not correct, just what is typically mentioned.

He is probably talking home theater usage, not music.
