The stainless steel variants have a sapphire crystal screen, instead of the crappier glass on the aluminum models. Sapphire is much more resistant to scratching. In 3 years with the S4 stainless and 2 years with the S8 stainless I've never managed to scratch either one. Smacked against walls, door handles, all kinds of sh*t. Case scratched up? Easy --> polish it. If you care about screen scratches (and they drive you nuts), the stainless is suuuuuuuper worth it for the sapphire screen.

I honestly haven't had many issues at all with the Milanese band that came with my stainless Apple Watch. I have really hairy arms but it's rare for them to catch on the edge of the band. This only applies to the ones made by Apple. If you get a third party no-name Milanese band from eBay or wherever, those will rip your hair out guaranteed.

That's the cheapest standalone plan I've heard of. How'd you get that if you don't mind me asking? Thought they only offer plans if you have a phone line with them.

I have only 1 watch line in the account. No phone line needed. Plan name is Apple Watch standalone 500 mbps (includes tax) - $12 per month . You get $5 discount for autopay. That makes it $7 per month! Hope this helps.

Thanks - will get the watch tomorrow and contact Tmobile to get. From googling this plan, looks like you need to call them (or contact them through social media) to add this. Can't do online or in-store as the plan doesn't seem that well known.

guess so, then. So some of the other retails were too low. In any case the deal was great if any are left.

I thought $799 was price of Ultra but it might be $899. Not the same kind of band, but the bands are all sport-activity focused.

for those who plan to use it as standalone watch for a kid, it is very hard to find a cell provider and it is very expensive. I paid verizon $15 a month and service was meh (not sure if it was the watch or verizon problem). Bought cheap samsung watch for a kid and it can be connected to a regular cellphone plan. I use $7 tello plan.

I use T-Mobile and I think it was $5 month with my family plan . That's pretty cheap . The fact that she broke her watch and here I am shopping for another is not helping my bottom line lol but strictly speaking about plans tmo is fairly affordable too

I placed an order for the Gold stainless steel + Milanese band, 40 minutes ago. The order went thru and I got the "thanks for your order" email. No cancellation email yet.

Update: my order shipped out today (9/1). Around 1:50pm EST, from Orlando FL, thru Lasership
