I have the series 4 stainless steel & still going strong. Will only upgrade when Apple has watches with a built in camera for FaceTime. Paid $250 when it was on clearance in 2019.
Why buy something for $650 when it will be obsolete in a year! You can use that money and invest in a real watch that appreciates over time and not depreciates like Apple Watch.

I purchased a series 8 from Walmart a month ago and it had blood oxygen. These will very likely have it. Apple didn't disable it on existing models with an OTA update, they just can't sell new ones with it.
deal is over, just search on slickdeals Apple Watch stainless steel
Yeah that was a great deal. I didn't see it until the sport band models were sold out, but I did score a couple with milanese band ($50 more) for my kids. A 45mm graphite stainless with milanese loop ($299) and a 41mm natural stainless with milanese loop ($249). The graphite one will replace my sons hand me down series 6 aluminum that has a fairly weak battery and scratched display, the silver one will replace my daughter's SE2. The sapphire glass on the stainless models is much more resilient than the Ion-X glass on the aluminum models. The price was just too good to pass up. They also have a larger display compared to the S6 and SE2, still have blood oxygen, and are still pretty capable devices. I wouldn't pay $650 for a series 9 stainless model, at that price I'd probably just get the latest.
