it's a good laptop overall. although intel is notorious for issues in 13th and 14th gen processors, but so far they claim only affecting in k, ks, and kf series of desktop version processors

I have been running a 14900k for almost a year now for mostly gaming with no issues. No one I know has that issue either, so it's probably a small group of cpus with that issue. 🤔

I shopped for a long time for this. Bought it a month or two ago at the 750 sale price but snagged an excellent condition return (it was not used) for $650. There are still excellent conditions available. 650 is a deal.

How does this compare with the Vivobook 15 oled with Nvidia 3050 gpu for $899. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/...source=PDP

I have this laptop. Have not noticed it get particularly warm, and it's one of the best laptops I've ever owned.

I'm slightly bummed that it doesn't have a second NVMe slot or upgradable RAM, but beyond that, it's fast, has a great port selection, and feels sturdy.

Pretty much every laptop in this size doesn't have a 2nd storage slot and comes with soldered ram.

Would this be cheaper when Ultra 2 Lunar Lake finally hit the shelves?

If you're not in a rush, i would just wait for Lunar Lake. The improvement in efficiency finally puts it on par with Apple M series chips.

For best battery life, wait for Intel ultra series 2 with 16-20 hr

Current series 1 gets 10 hr.

I am debating buying this one or another Zenbook from Costco for my middle school son. It is for daily school tasks; gaming is not considered (yet).

Do you happen to know this thing? Could you please compare the two and comment? TIA

The coil whine makes me hesitate to grab one. Does yours have this issue? I saw some reviews mentioning it

This one will get you better temps and battery life than the Costco deal. But that Costco return policy is sweet. Can't really "game" on either, only on low settings. Both are more than enough for a school kid, you could probably drop down to the i5 or Ultra 5 and save some money.
