For tools you only use occasionally, how important is brushless? I have a corded multi tool and too many corder sanders, but for the price this seens like two really nice to haves. But if brushless matter then maybe not.

Brushed is perfectly fine for occasional home use and 95% of my tools are just that and I have no issues. If you were a professional or used every day, then brushless would be the way to go.

I have both of these and have used them a fair bit for dyi - i never had an issue with performance that made me wish i went brushless. This is a good deal. No regrets

Not important at all. Don't get me wrong...I have some great brushless tools, and I'll buy more when the price is right and I have a need. But nothing has kept my jigsaw, impact wrench, or multi-tool from getting the job done. I will say that the more power draw the tool needs, the more brushless becomes a valuable feature. Think circular saw, heavy duty impact, leaf blower, snow blower...

The sander itself is often ~$50 so this is a solid deal.

Thanks. Yeah, I want to stick to Ridgid and brushless for circ saw, etc. I'm using Ryobi for the less used and less pricey tools. Stuff I probably do not need all the time but will be happy I have them when I do. A cordless sander sounds like a gift from God. I'm sure Ridgid has those but to get these two tools for $35 each?? That's Slick

A couple of weeks ago I did need a multi-tool. Harbor Freight Tools had a corded one for $35 which was less than half of anything cordless at the time. Oh well. lol.

I like the extra performance on brushless, especially on the multi tool. Blade matters too, but that extra power helps a bit. I don't want to be struggling on a project.

Brushed is usually fine for the average home use person. One exception: My beloved, brushed Bosch 12 volt screw gun. I discovered that you can't replace the brushes on it, so it becomes a paperweight when they go. Would have been nice if they'd mentioned that on the box, huh?

These are very basic tools so don't expect much out of them. If you have a project that requires a bit more strength (multi-tool), this may not hold up. the sander is probably fine, just need to see if it actual randomly orbits, otherwise it's worthless.

Brushed vs. brushless? You get more out of your batteries with brushless...they'll last longer per charge and your tool will usually last longer too.

Considering how much cheaper brushless tools are these days compared to years past, I see no reason wasting money on a brushed tool when a comparable brushless is available for usually not much more. Futureproof, not current-need.

Eh, for a tool you use every once in a while, brushed is fine. A brushless multi tool to make one cut isn't necessary, you know what I'm saying? It's going right back into the cabinet after that one cut. The sander will get used once too. That alone is worth $69, IMO.
