I usually don't recomment battery powered RO sander unless you have a LOT of spare or high capacity batteries around. If you sand a few pieces back-to-back, you will find wanting to replace batteries frequently.

Sander and the miter saw are the only wired tools I have in my garage right now.

For tools you only use occasionally, how important is brushless? I have a corded multi tool and too many corder sanders, but for the price this seens like two really nice to haves. But if brushless matter then maybe not.
Brushless power tools are superior for direct current (DC) tools, so really any of your cordless tools. Doesn't matter so much when something runs on alternating current (AC). These would be your wall plugs/ourlets. The reasons it's important for cordless is due to magnetism and friction. When the motor is turning in a brushed motor the polarities continually change, so even though it's running, it's also being signaled to stop every time the polarities switch, which would be every rotation from the motor. In the brushed motor, you have two brushes, so as the polarities change, you'll have one with the correct polarity to drive the motor forward, while the other is opposite. The downside is these brushes create friction, which reduces voltage and decreases the energy being supplied.

Brushless mortors use an inverter to continually create a magnetic field and do not require any brushes (obviously). This allows for them to continuously and efficiently supply energy. So not only will the motor run better, but it will also run much more efficiently., which will contribute to your batteries lasting significantly longer.

Both brushed and brushless will work fine, but I would suggest going with the brushless when possible, even if you just use power tools on occasion. This is assuming you don't have as many batteries as someone who uses power tools more regularly. This will allow you to have more usage time with whatever tool you may be using.

Eh, for a tool you use every once in a while, brushed is fine. A brushless multi tool to make one cut isn't necessary, you know what I'm saying? It's going right back into the cabinet after that one cut. The sander will get used once too. That alone is worth $69, IMO.
right, but that's a "for now" requirement instead of a future requirement. I've already made that mistake once and won't do it again. Futureproof your tools, electronics, etc., or you'll end up paying more in the long run to save a buck now.

Agreed. At this price, if you already own Ryobi, this is a great deal. The mutli-tool is a game changer. Fine for weekend warrior DIY stuff.

It's not going to polish much using sand paper.

Also, the surface is small. Go get a 10" polisher. They're pretty cheap at Harbor Freight.

I am a noob when it comes to wood making tool. I'm debating whether I should get the jigsaw or this multitool saw. Could someone give me a suggestion? I just need to have some kind of electronic saw for random small wood cutting needs.

Brushed is usually fine for the average home use person. One exception: My beloved, brushed Bosch 12 volt screw gun. I discovered that you can't replace the brushes on it, so it becomes a paperweight when they go. Would have been nice if they'd mentioned that on the box, huh?
sucks. i don't like adding unnecessarily to landfills.

I like the extra performance on brushless, especially on the multi tool. Blade matters too, but that extra power helps a bit. I don't want to be struggling on a project.
Make sense. Ok. Thanks.

I'm not handy at all; can I use this sander to sand the wood panels in my home to repaint?
