However, I just realized that this rule may not apply to tablet lines. But now the tablet is OOS so I'm unable to try.

That said, I'm not sure if they will actually ship the phone as the 72hr grace extension expires this afternoon and today is Sunday.

So I tried to get a second iP12 and they port locked me. I've been on the phone with merto and they said it could take 72 hrs or up to a week to undo the port lock. Does this sound right? This is my 5th time I talked with an agent.

Yes, Apple will take locked phones for trade in -- right now you'll get $155 Apple GC if you're not buying anything or $180 (plus tax depending on state) if you're putting it towards a new device purchase

I ordered the $499 Mac Mini few days ago and waiting for it to come in -- will trade in the iP12 towards that purchase for $180+tax refund

Best to do basic setup at home and activate the eSIM on startup -- skip most of the setup (no need to login to anything except wifi) so Apple store can get to the settings menu

Delete the eSIM if you don't want access to your online account otherwise move it to another device using the Metro app -- they send verification text every time you want to login

You can try to get 2nd line for $35 if you want

Have you tried to move the eSIM to another Metro or unlocked phone? Seems like it's not possible on this plan.

I tried ordering a different tablet and it says "Sorry, you are not eligible to add a new line". So it looks like the rule about having to activate the previous line before adding another one also applies to tablet lines.

The iphone 12 is free. You just have to pay for the $75 a month Flex plan. So the first iphone 12 is $75. Any additional phone line added to the same account is $35 a month discounted Flex plan. So 6 iphone 12 will cost $75 + $35 + $35 + $35 + $35 + $35. The hard part is adding the additional phone lines all within the first month. You don't want to pay for the second month of service.
