Deal Alerts - Unrelated Items

19 17 October 18, 2024 at 08:04 AM
I was just viewing an expired deal for the Apple Airpods Pro. There was a button to receive alerts for new deals, so I clicked on it. In the next few minutes, I received 4 emails, none of which had anything to do with that item. The subjects were:
  • Apple AirPods Pro: The Surge (PC Digital Download) $1.61
  • Apple AirPods Pro: Roland Nuvola digital piano w/ bench $599
  • Apple AirPods Pro: 16-Oz Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lightweight Hydrating Facial Cleansing Gel Refill $5.95 w/ S&S + Free Shipping w/ Prime or on $35+
  • Apple AirPods Pro: ASUS ZenBook 14 (Open-Boxes): 14" FHD+ OLED Touch, Intel Ultra 7 155H, 16GB LPDDR5, 1TB SSD $553.99

So aside from unsubscribing, what's the best option for dealing with the poor quality of the alerts? And is there a way to make that the default behavior when adding new deal alerts, especially ones that were being suggested to me?

So it's weird, the Alert that got added for you on that deal was set to "Any Keyword, 2+ Ratings", with the title set to "Apple AirPods Pro".
Usually there should be some additional keyword or category set on those "expired deal" deal alerts, e.g. it should have set a keyword for "Apple AirPods Pro", or set the category to Apple, or something appropriate.

I'm not sure if there is a bug causing the keyword/category not to be set, or if just that particular deal has an issue, but either way it wasn't anything that you did. The only thing I can suggest in this case is to edit that deal alert to add a more specific keyword.

In the meantime, I can see if there is an bug somewhere when adding those expired deal Deal Alerts
