10,000 points = $100
what amount of points (define as X) * 150% = 10,000?
1.5X = 10,000 --> X = 10,000/1.5 = 6,667
with 50% bonus, $100 = 6,667 points, a savings of 3,333 points (10,000 - 6,667)
3,333/10,000 = 33%, or a 33% savings
said another way:
normally $1 = 100 points, but with the 50% further $1 = 100/1.5 = 66 points
Old Price = 100 Points
New Price = 66 Points
Change = (New price - Old price) / Old Price = (66 - 100) / 100 = -33/100 = -33%

At the end of the day, I remain unconvinced that you even understand the value of these points, much less implement them efficiently. Even to your actual example, you're bragging about a 1.5X pt per dollar spent that you then redeem with a 1.25% multiplier by shifting it to the Preferred. That's 1.875 points per dollar in value. The Citi Double Cash card will literally give you a straight 2X back IN CASH to spend on whatever you want, with no limit. On a FREE CARD! The Custom Cash card will give you 5X back on your first $500 for ANY single category. On a FREE CARD! You are falling for a gimmick because you feel like you got a free iphone or ipad, but you could have had literal cash back in excess of what those items are worth, without paying a dime for the credit card that provides it.
It's not a matter of whether you will recoup your $95, it's a matter of whether you would have done even better with a different card combination. Read that sentence again, because it's the key to this whole situation. In this scenario, specifically that you describe, a user would have gotten a better result from a FREE card! This will do better for non-travelers or low-travelers in the long run. It's a DUMB approach if you don't travel, you HAVE to get better multipliers for it to make sense.
Dude wrote a whole freaking essay when the Sapphire reserve is basically a free card also with alot more other perks lol
Did you end up getting it?
Are there ever MacBooks pros or just air?
When trying to check out on the Ultimate Rewards, I'm met with a pop up that just says:
"We were unable to complete your order.
Return to Cart
Error Code: B28374"
I got to place order at first and got cancelled in 24 hrs. Tried placing again the next day and now I get this error. Spoke with 4 reps and no resolution; escalation ticket was created. it's been 1 week no resolution.
Anybody else have this error or know why this is happening?
I just got 3 cents per point via transferring the points to Hyatt.
And >10 cents per point with a business class airfare redemption.
If you're not into travel, then collecting Chase points is, indeed, pretty dumb... there's just no mincing words on it, particularly when -- as shhaggy rightly noted -- there are several cards that'll give you straight 2% cashback or more!
Damn you certainly don't know how to at least harvest 5% points from several free chase cards and then convert them to the CSR. Smh

Yeah, still do not know why. Chase finally got back with the escalation ticket and said its known issue and they working on it but no ECD when it will be fixed, which sucks because theres only like 17 more days until promo is over. I am basically stuck at the moment and can't do anything.
Ok cool cause I have 2 pro maxes on their way via ups. Both just left the Jacksonville facility and are schedule to be delivered tomorrow. I'm going to have come home from work during their delivery window just make sure the actual phones show up.
did you order another or took the points ?

I wanted the points in case I changed my mind, and I'm glad I did because I'm going to get a lower spec one this time around to save some points.
