these are $7.99 at the store, at least mine in CA. I don't trust freshness on amazon

Walnuts become rancid and quickly, unlike most other nuts. I have a sneaking suspicion these are nearing expiration. When they remotely become rancid, they are bitter. You will know immediately.

Curious where Amazon is sourcing these. Most Kirkland items on Amazon are from resellers, but I doubt someone is reselling walnuts….so maybe Costco is looking to dump near-dated inventory.

Seem to last forever in the fridge at least, so maybe throw these in there when you get them.
