I bought this last year for same price. When it works, the interface is fast and responsive. Rewinding, navigating, etc. is all very good. The app integration is also very good and I use the app as the remote more than the physical remote. Connecting headphones to your phone/app instead of the TV is also pretty handy. My biggest gripe is that the Roku freezes or restarts itself A LOT, especially with certain apps like Max (HBO). I haven't been able to solve this. My theory is that the unit is overheating or maxing out. I have to physically unplug the power to the box many times to restart it. I do think it's worth $34 and the experience is better than my Chromecast and Fire stick.
Been using this for a couple of years ( paid the same $34 at Wally's BF sale ) and it's been great! No issues. Way better than the stick. Def. recommended!
I purchased this a while ago for the same price, and I would absolutely recommend the Apple TV over this. The Roku was perfectly usable at first, but after a few months, it started lagging and having various issues (Bluetooth connections, apps crashing, etc). I tried factory resetting it, but that didn't help much. I understand the Apple TV is significantly more expensive, but in my opinion it's worth it if you can afford it (I got the Apple TV on sale for $90 at Verizon). The Apple TV is way faster (same chip as iPhone 14 so should remain fast for a long time), content and UI looks noticably sharper, apps are better optimized, nice integration with other Apple devices, etc. That being said, I may not be aware of specific use-cases for the Roku that aren't possible with the Apple TV.
I have had Roku Ultras for over a decade on each of my TVs. I buy at least one new one a year, then push the older ones down to older tvs. I only do streaming and have them hooked up to LAN cable (the reason I get Ultra) and stream 4k movies from a plex server. I work them hard. I once had to google a configuration change because the 4k streams from plex were lagging...but config fixed it while preserving native resolution. Otherwise I've never had an issue with overworking my Rokus. maybe you have weak wifi or a bad unit. These things are champs.
If you have a new smart TV with Google Tv, you don't need to buy this product. There is a ROKU app in Google Tv application, which has the same functions as this product.

hold up.. so you would open google tv to open roku to open netflix? i think there may be a step in there that you can skip if you have google tv

This device DEcodes 4k from Plex just fine, but the 100Mbps Ethernet port can't keep up with peak bitrates, so you need to have a good enough wifi setup to handle more like 130-150 Mb peaks. After fiddling with the placement of this device in my shelf a little, I got it to where the signal is fine and it handles 4k without buffering breaks. Roku's "secret menu" for the wifi signal meter is useful for real-time watching the result of moving the device around and estimating its current bandwidth.
Has anyone here ever used this with an older TV with built-in Roku. I've got a 5 year old TCL 6-series TV and am wondering if this would be all that much snappier by comparison?
My OEM remote is starting to fail, so I'd have to spend some money anyways...

that TCL tv is probably where we met been great but it won't keep up with external boxes or get patched up as often.
EDIT.. just noticed deal is the LT ultra, not the Ultra '22 so YMMV... I have both ultra and plus roku boxes one even has USB port that I haven't tried. Got mine years ago so probably same speed... just a notch slower than my Apple TV and less ads then my Fire Cube (both second gens) This seems like a fair price but plenty of deal coming up.
