Real value of the SSD is ~60 bucks and the intel bundle ~30 maybe (0 value to me personally) so this is a good deal, but not a slick deal.

Also, before people ask, 12th gen intel was not part of the overheating issues and the 13, 14 gens have a bios update that fixes the issue for a ~5% performance loss, I believe.

The i5-12600K bundle for $150 seems kind of slick for a budget build.

Is the 14900K bundle not a great deal?

Not talking about a great BF deal, I mean right now overall... does anyone see something else the same or better for this CPU or a better CPU right now?

Note that 13-14th gen are no longer safe to purchase due to degradation chips.

I would only buy 12th gen cpu's for Intel.

Is the 12th gen still a viable option considering its 3 yrs old

Depends upon your use case but 13/14 gen do not have major updates and the mobo for 12th gen are cheap. I have a 12400 happily running my unraid with dozens of containers including Plex and 2 VM. There have been no real updates to the IME (quicksync) in the last 3 generations (except for HW AV1 dec) so transcoding performance pretty much the same. The 12/14 have the same UHD770 so even the newer ones don't have AV1 dec. Since this was DDR4 I put 64GB in there for cheap and I think I paid $120 for the z-690 steel legend motherboard.

So if you can handle 20% (or less with them gimping the 13/14) the performance loss for half the price or more off then perhaps yes is the answer to your question. The big gotcha being no AV1 hw dec but that can be mitigated w/ an cheap GPU.

The other issue was that some 13/14 gen intel cpus had a manuufacture defect that caused the metal to oxidize/corrode, which caused crashs and fails... This cannot be fixed and you have to check to see when your cpu was made to avoid the issue.

Yeah that did stick out but you need to check benchmarks on this. I have a 12th gen and a 14th gen and the at the wall usage is not that much different.

I also have a 12650h mini PC and that thing idles at 10W and I rarely see it go over 50W (at the wall).

So I don't really pay much attention to TDP except for cooler sizing just in case.

These prices seem live, a bit different codes than the OP's post.
EDIT: Codes today (11/21) match OP's post.

Trying to get the i5-12600k + 1tb ssd, but applying the code doesn't seem to yield the price in OP's post. Am I missing something? TIA!
