Excellent deal -- Don't forget to do a referral code to get an extra $30 store credit on top of the above!

I know there was some confusion about what the 3S is (Was it a "Quest 2.5" or a "Quest 3 Lite"? Was it a "Quest 3+"?

The Quest 3S is essentially the same as a Quest 3 (in terms of CPU/Ram/etc..) but uses the lesser-quality lenses of the Quest 2. Games will all run as good as they do on a normal 3, you're not getting a lesser experience there.. but it has fresnel lenses instead of the pancake lenses on the 3.
With the lenses do come a bit of a lower resolution (Quest 3 is 4.5mp, 3S is 3.5mp).

WIth so many of the newer games, the 3S is a definite upgrade over Quest 2.
And while 128GB might not seem like a lot.. I had the Quest 3 128gb and had about ~75 games/apps installed with free space still. Some of the newer games are starting to finally hit the ~15GB mark, but the majority are like 1-4GB in size.

Essentially the headset is $225 + a free $50 game. Looks like an amazing deal, considerably the Quest 3S came out 1 month ago!

Referral code?
Yes - once you create a Quest account and register your headset, you can share your "Referral Code" with others.. it's basically a link to the Meta site to create your account. If you use this link, both parties (The one sharing the code and the one redeeming the code) will get a $30 store credit for the Quest store.

This is a great little bonus for both sides to get some games/apps.

I don't think we can post referral codes on here though

Unfortunately, that is correct --

You need to create a new account and activate a new headset in order to get the credit.

I recently upgraded my 128GB Quest 3 to a 512GB Quest 3 and they didn't let me use a referral code since I already had an account.

If you have any family members or plan to share the headset (or you just don't mind creating a 2nd account), you might be able to "refer them" with your existing account, have them create/activate the new headset.. and both accounts should get the credit. YMMV, but I don't see why it wouldn't work

So sorry if this is answered somewhere (I can't actually see the deal posted by Target to see the fine print, the link just takes me to the product page and the only deal I see is for a strap), but can this deal be done twice? I want to pick up two sets for my boys for Christmas.

I think the referral code may work but normally it's for new accounts. You can create one, but I would be worried about how they would deliver Batman. they maybe associated with the new account.

From past experience, if you already have an account but still want the $30 credit, you can create a new temporary account to redeem the $30 credit but don't redeem the free game yet. Your temporary account can use the $30 to gift games back to your original account. After that, wipe the machine and sign in to your original account. Since the free game hasn't been redeemed yet on the machine, you can still redeem it.

I'm one of those people who used 2 accounts trying to self refer and failed. The Batman game is stuck on the first account i activated quest with.

This no longer works - even if you don't "redeem" the game on the first account, it will still be bound to it and you won't be able to apply the game to any other account.

How does the referral code for Target work? It's my first time hearing about it. I thought I knew all the Target discounts

The price is attractive but I disagree that it's the right device to buy. A huge part of the experience is determined by the lenses and the resoultion. People who have tried both the old and the new lenses tell me they're not willing to go back. It's not an fps race. If one is paying such a hefty price for an unessential thing such as a VR headset, they want to enjoy it. It makes sense to save a bit more and go for the full experience with Quest3 rather than the crippled 3S.

The referral code is actually for the quest!

To redeem a referral link:
Click the referral link that your friend sent. Create a new Meta account or log in.
Purchase your Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S from any retailer. You and your friend who referred you will receive $30 USD in promotional Quest cash once you activate your new headset.

You should receive your referral credit immediately after activating your headset.

To redeem your referral credit:
Tap your avatar picture at the bottom, then tap in the top right.
Swipe down and tap Referrals below Payment and subscriptions.
Tap Device referrals and redeem your available device referral credits.

Totally agreed, I'd absolutely recommend the Quest 3 to most people, but in a case like this where the options are either $500 (Quest 3) or $225 (Quest 3S) the decision becomes a lot harder.

I still find the Quest 3 128GB which was going for about $379 at one point to be the best deal.. but even $150 for better lenses is a lot to some people. $225 is a great entry-point, but if you can afford the $500 I absolutely recommend that.
