This is not true. I bought a phone there last month as unlocked and attached it to my Tmobile plan.
So you can not buy it unattached - say u want to gift it?
What is the significance of attaching especially unlocked phone - will the phone still work if you switch carriers? Looks like BB is getting commission from carriers?
Be careful bestbuy does not allow sales of phones not attached to a verizon or att plan! You have to activate the phone before leaving the store!
Wrong. Unlocked phones can be sold without a plan attached. You either bought a carrier locked phone, got a deal with activation, or the associate scammed you.

Also I did a side by side comparison with my S21 FE:
- as above for Main camera
- no Tele camera
- no Stereo spkrs - I guess headphone will resolve this
- smaller battery

Flip 4: Smaller outside screen, S23 level performance, except camera system, which is OK but inferior. Gets the AI functionality suite. Much better battery life than Flip 3.
Flip 5: Adds bigger outside screen, but functionality of that outer screen is limited. Otherwise, not much improvement on Flip 5. Camera system still inferior to standard phones.
Flip 6: Really nominal improvements over Flip 5.
The Flip4 is actually the sweet spot if you're mostly looking for a pocketable flip phone. If you will take advantage of the outer screen (I find it mostly useful for taking selfies with superior outer camera), then the Flip 5 is the sweet spot. I see no compelling reason to get the Flip 6. Note that even with the Flip 4 you can use the outerscreen to take selfies, but the bigger screen on the Flip 5 is much easier to see.
The external standard camera system on these phones is fine. Optical zoom is limited. And the selfie cameras are all inferior to their standard phone counterparts--but since you can use the external system for selfies with the outer screen as viewfinder, that's not as big a drawback.
All phones have a crease at the fold, and the Flip 6 is not appreciably better than the Flip 4 (or even the Flip 3). The Flip 6 folds a wee bit more flush than the earlier models, but once you start using it (and especially if you use a case), that's pretty irrelevant.
As for why you'd want any of these vs the S21FE: The Flip -> onward are peppier, with a better processor. And you'll get the full AI suite, which you won't get with the S21FE. But if camera is critical, the non-flips are better and cheaper for the same functionality. And, of course, they flip, so you get a thicker but smaller phone that better fits in some pockets.
