Getting better... but not good enough yet.
Steady... Steady... Hold the line!

We can get to $450 folks. If 4TB is below $200, they'll take $450 for 8TB to make their numbers.
Not sure if I can hold out much longer with the price dropping like this…

I bought it from B&H when it was $649, they allowed me to price adjust it twice now.

Lots of grey market or factory rejected chips make their way on to products sold on 3rd party marketplaces. Not something you want to gamble 8TB of data with..
It's not a matter of factory rejects, these drives won't have anywhere near their claimed capacity.

Is anyone else pissed at Crucial, Sabrent and Samsung for price fixing 8tb nvme at $1,000 for 2 years? Now WD casually cuts the price 30% then 50%.

In for 3, 1x PS5 and 2x for desktop. Death to spinning rust.

I don't think it was price fixing.

Unfortunately AI craves SSD. These multi-billion dollar AI bets are buying the densest, fastest SSD they can get.

Why is someone in this day and age spending money on 8TB of storage? Shouldn't you move to the cloud for most things that take up a lot of space? The cloud is safer.

2TB is the most you should need and you should only be storing program installation files (which 2TB is overkill for most gamers that focus on a couple of key games).

One exception, if you're still ripping movies and MP3's then fine, I guess.

Am I missing something, this is an honest question?
I realize this is a "gaming" ssd, but not everyone uses it for that. I store sound/sample libraries for music production. To upgrade a base model MacBook Pro to 8tb internal ssd, it would cost $2400.

do they track the serial numbers when they sell it to you? I bought several from different orders and I will probably return at least 1. wondering if I should track which ones came from which order when returning.

Does that mean it was Crucial, Sabrent and Samsung screwing over consumers by channeling consumer inventory to the highest bidder? Like Nvidia did when crypto mining was hot. Got it.

Added the item into cart at SanDisk.com (with account logged in) and leave it. Then received a 15% off coupon in email after 1 day. YMMV.

And exactly how much do you think 8TB of cloud storage costs per month?

Calling Cloud safe is not a well thought out approach. It is not more "safe" than your own data in your own home.

If you have critical data it is best to have a local data, local backup and remote backup.

But certainly just for the initial storage cloud is not better nor safer nor cheaper.

I've tried this before but their email codes never work for me for some reason

Choose who has better return policies and cash back. At least NewEgg and Amazon will have extra holiday return times. Usually till Jan 31st.

Looks like Sandisk has 30day return policy.
