2TB is the most you should need and you should only be storing program installation files (which 2TB is overkill for most gamers that focus on a couple of key games).
One exception, if you're still ripping movies and MP3's then fine, I guess.

If you have critical data it is best to have a local data, local backup and remote backup.
But certainly just for the initial storage cloud is not better nor safer nor cheaper.
