Just returned our gateway this am. After a big outage earlier this week, this AM we woke to no internet. Tmo pushed an update to our gateway and bricked it. Our billing cycle starts on the 20th. Today is the 21st, they said they will cancel it next bill cycle - $46.45/mo for a service that barely worked and now I owe an extra month for a service I can't even use. Before the outage and before they bricked our gateway, it was pretty rough to use it. We could see speeds in the 70mpbs range at most, but it would drop and doing a zoom call across it was not feasible.
Did this last year for a free 43" Fire TV and fought them for 6 months and never got the TV rebate I followed all rules on. Be careful
A 4 series 43" is more of the "current" model, while they still sell the 2 series for ~80$ less at 150$. Just a general idea on value / recency of what you are getting.

I wonder if this will work in a rural area. Says it's available for my address. Just used for internet browsing and streaming.
T-Mobile home internet works in many rural areas, but it's very location dependent.

I'm near some rural areas where I've tested T-Mobile's cell network on my phone, and I've gotten gigabit speeds in the some rural areas.

A huge advantage in rural areas is the typically allow building taller cell towers which cover wider areas, and the towers are spaced out farther between each other, reducing interference between towers. (There's other factors at play, both pro and con)

There's ways you can do research, but as I mentioned in my other comment, the most accurate way is to just try it out

Does the $20/month Home Internet Backup plan qualify? From what I can tell, it is probably not an "unlimited" plan as it say "130GB data enough for 7 days of typical use"
It doesn't show as qualify for promotion for me on online page after I put my address, the cheapest one is Rely Home Internet $50/mo

I have an active line with T-Mo Home Internet. If I cancel this and sign up again under my spouse's name (but for the same address), then will that qualify for a $300 GC?

Cell mapper has towers and frequencies. It does show T-Mobile very close to me with the high speed bands (I forget what they were, I looked into it over a year ago).

I wanted to try it but it says "T-Mobile 5G Home Internet is not currently available at your address. But you are eligible to receive Home Internet LITE! "

Anyone know what this Home Internet LITE is?

Should be their lower tier service on 4G or LTE network. Likely just lower speeds.

I am moving to a new home and am thinking of trying this out as an existing T-Mobile cellphone customer. My price is $35 a month for internet unlimited and $50 for Plus. I would like to use eero Pro 6E mesh wifi system with the home Internet plan unlimited. Would this work with the home internet plan? What exactly is needed from a step up perspective?

I think it'll depend which gateway (router) comes with the plan you select. I know the one I have can be used as a pass through with its own WiFi disabled so you can use a 3rd party system like Eero. Which is what I plan to do too, as tmobile equipment has been less than stellar. They've replaced dead routers and extenders for free multiple times, but it's a hassle.

I don't believe so.

Might keep it if they'll let you switch to the backup Internet plan after a couple months and the gift card works out. Would consider keeping it around for backup.
If you get the gift card after 2 months at $35, then switching to backup at $10/mo., you're looking at about 23 months of backup internet being offset. Not bad.
Decent service for some use cases but not all.

Looks like my post about the $300 T-Mobile Home Internet Virtual Mastercard from yesterday was either merged and combined with this one (or deleted), as the deals were similar. The moderator also just updated this post to reflect the $300 gift card that started yesterday.

The $300 Virtual Prepaid Mastercard offer started on 12/19 and is only available for online or virtual sales orders.

Rebate name: Internet ID240738

How to claim the $300:

Redeem at promotions.t-mobile.com after activation.

Enter promo code 240738, or select the correct dropdown options to see the $300 offer.

This is a great deal if you live somewhere with slow Internet, typically a very rural area. For me, I went from 6 Mbps down on DSL to a range of 60 to 350 Mbps down with this. Only had it for a week, but so far it's a YUGE improvement. Not going to compete with cable or fiber, but also not meant to. At a $300 rebate, you should give it a try if you are rural. If you have T-Mobile cell, you can check your speeds now, as the 5g router and my phone get similar results in the same spot.

Weren't they giving out a $200 Visa GC for new home Internet lines until a while back? Isn't this a worse offer than that?
I thought this offer was for a $300 virtual prepaid Mastercard. Is this not better? Seriously confused.
