In before the obligatory but they smell comments.

My home gym is nearly 100% balance from brand plates and dumbbells. They do smell and may have an oil or damp residue from the factory. Wipe them down let them sit in open air preferably in the sun for a day or two and zero problems.

I have been working out with these dumbbells 5-50lbs though. BF plates and the balance from power rack and lat pull down for over a year. It's helped me get stronger and loose about 50 lbs of course coupled with diet and cardio as well.

I picked up all the equipment via SD deals and could not be happier.

Understand that it is lower end equipment but you're getting a smoking deal tbh.

Don't Abuse them and they should last a life time.

They do seem to have a bit of smell to them, its not horrible but it smells like oil or something. The ones I received are somewhat oily/greasy as well. I wiped them down with clorox wipes and paper towel and they still seem a little slick. I'm letting them sit in the garage for a few more days. Still a great deal I think.

Been airing them for almost a week, the smell is still there. While it subsisted, it is still there. Washed them with dawn soup, not sure if it helped. Some say to dip these in cat litter to absorb the smell.

Otherwise the weights you get what you pay for, good enough to start.

A week out and smell is still there. Gonna try the clorox wipes next. Good thing they are returnable until Jan 31st so if the smeel is still there, they are going back.
