Ok, so where can I get this cheaper now? Your deal 3 years ago has little bearing on whether or not is a good deal now.
Looks like there's a promo for Newegg gift cards ($100 GC for $90) that you could buy first to bring the price of this HDD down another $10.

I hope Amazon copies this deal as well. I would rather buy it on Amazon.

Last year I picked one up at Costco and it was an Exos drive inside

Picked up this drive Aug last year when it was $109.99 on Newegg. Same model version and still runs great so might have to do it again. Wish I didn't pick up that 20TB WD last month for $289 on sale at Walmart as this at $159.99 still beats that by far.

What software do you use to backup your files and how long does it take? I used Cobian to backup about 2TB and it copied only 20% in 24 hours.

I had purchased 14TB WDs for this price like 3 years ago, not really that great of a deal.

Unlike before, HDD prices haven't come down much in the last couple of years due to AI demand and supply shortage.

When demand tapers and they start to come down in prices, the price drop will likely be sharper due to the production capacity expansions.

This is a good price if anyone wants one now.

I would wait until a better deal on a larger TB drive at this point. The 20TB models are coming down.

Are you on a USB 3 connection?

I used Cobian before, I now use SyncFolder from the MS App store.
