I got this 5 days ago (~3 day shipping).
Noticeably noisier than my 2.5" 5GB HDD, but doesn't really bother me.
After copying about 4TB to it, my 'real world' write speeds are around 60 to 110 MB/s. Read are a bit better.

PS - Came in exFAT, is that why I have to restart Windows to Check Drive for Errors?

But it's seagate so now you need another drive to backup your backup drive.

This expired 12 TB at 160 deal ($13.33 p/tb) was marginally better,

Most likely a SMR drive. Avoid at all cost.

Not a slick deal if you plan to shuck. The MSRP is still grossly inflated from the Chia craze and there have been numerous deals on NAS/enterprise drives that don't require rolling the dice on what drive you get or if you will have issues with RMA.

How can you tell?

Is it on this list? https://www.seagate.com/products/cmr-smr-list/
According to that, any drive 10TB or larger is always CMR. No clue if it is accurate or not though…

You're right. Based on Reddit these are Exos drives, which are not SMR. Might be finally time to give Seagate a chance if they are significantly cheaper than the Easystores I usually get.

One is none and two is one when it comes to backups. Goes for locations too.
