That 5 years is one additional benefit, last Onkyo had HDMI issues outside of the warranty.

If anything moving the LCR channels on external amp greatly reduces load on the internal amps and overall improves the sound quality.
On the other hand if you have sensitive speakers like Klipsch, you may not need an amp. I personally would not go back.
I had the exact same model and it's a great deal at this price, Dirac alone is nice to have.

This is how it's been described to me, at least - and it seems to hold.
There's been some changes (below), but so far INTEGRA seems to have been making good products.
"The name "Integra" refers to integration and fusion. Introduced by Onkyo in 1969 as a brand name under which it could market its more premium products, Integra Research became its own division in 2000."
