I do a 50/50 blend of breeze pellets and dried navy beans that you should be able to get at your local grocery store for about $1.50/lb. They're the same size and color and I don't notice much of a difference in performance. The cats don't care either.

Looking for a new box setup, the cat tracks the normal litter all over. Is this system really that much better? How frequent do the pellets need to be changed out?
This system is terrible. Get the $17 sifting system from Walmart

Garbage design with the tray at the bottom. Do not recommend.
Okay I give up, where should the tray be in your opinion?

We have tried most systems out there with the exception of the robot ones. We have 3 of these and have no issues at all. We use the multi cat pads and the pellets. We tried the pine pellets after the pellets that come with it were tossed. I noticed a difference. The pine pellets left an odor in the house that I noticed. My son scoops the boxes every other day or two and changes the pads about once a week. We have several cats and have liked this the most out of all we've tried.

No tray at all. It should be a whole bin, with the system sitting inside it. Too much mess with a shallow tray they designed

Anyone use pine pellets with this?
I've had this system and the smaller one for close to 10 years now. I love it. Especially because having the pad underneath is good for catching any potential issues your cat could have.

If you have a tractor supply near you. I can't recommend those as the pellet option enough. Buy the Pelletized bedding. It's like $6.50 for a 40 pound bag (used to be cheaper).

That will last me months with my cat. Cheapest option I've been able to find over the years.

Only real issue with it is the dust falls onto the pad and can get places at time so I have a mat underneath. Worst part is they don't always disintegrate enough and they get stuck in the grates. So just makes it more of thing you have to mess with when cleaning the litter box.

But overall I still think it's worth it and can't be beat price wise for the pellets.

Received my arm & hammer sifting box. It's going back. Feels cheap and too many mods required.

I found a solid solution for pine pellets. If you're ok with your house smelling like Home Depot then you should try it out. I do have a tractor supply not too far away and there's a restaurant supply store near me as well.

We've had the normal version for 7-8yrs? And it generally works great. The normal size can fit in many typical size cabinets, and we have 3 that are hidden in slightly different ways. The bigger one seems nice but if you ever want to conceal it you're gonna have a fun time.

Less, but not perfect. I've got the slightly smaller version and going to upgrade since my cat is bigger. Otherwise tho, best system I've used with my cat of 13 years.

I tried pine pellets with this. I built my own setup for pine pellets. They all equated to more work with so so results. I find the Breeze systems with genuine Breeze pellets and pads to be the best solution and least work. I have one old cat with CKD. I replace the pad once a week and all the pellets every 6-8 weeks along with a full clean(takes 10 minutes). I scoop the poop and move the pellets around once a day. Works well for me.

NOTE: You do have to set deal alerts for purchasing pads and pellets. When you get a good deal, load up for the year. Otherwise it is too expensive. I have tried almost every generic replacement pad and pellets. None of them come close to the quality of the Breeze refills.

Maybe I am not the norm, but I've used this system for a few months and had a HORRIBLE experience.
For a single cat, we were having to change the pad daily, or else urine smells flooded the house. The tray/pad combo didn't work great and would sometimes hang when trying to pull the tray out. There is nothing under the tray, so the pad would bunch up and fall to the floor, chancing the spread of urine. The pads didn't hold much urine, and if you forget to change the pad every other day, you risk a way bigger mess.
Feces smelled way worse when compared to my experience with litter. It wasn't much an issue if our cat ate only dry food, but sometimes we like to spoil him with wet food and snacks like Churu. The pellets did nothing to stop wet poops, and we were having to scrub clean the tray that holds the pellets. The smell was pretty abhorrent, but I think the urine was even worse.
Our cat used it fine for the first few weeks, but he began peeing elsewhere in the house. He hated this just as much as we did. Switched back to litter and no more issues.

I was on this system for while. It is very good if you have litter box inside the house. I too had issues with litter bits all over the floor (one cat). With it you can change the pad and clean the box once a week (tho better if twice as the pad can smell pretty bad when cleaning). Pellets are cheap too, $5 for 40lbs at tractor supply. You don't really change the pellets, they stay on top, wet pellets will dissolve to fall through into the pad below along with the pee. so the 40lbs will last a long long time.

I have since moved to a house (was in a condo) and now have setup multiple litter boxes in the garage, so I moved back to clumping litter since there's much more air circulation to dry out the litter clumps. This allows me not clean litter boxes up to 2 weeks 😂 and the litter mess is easily sweepable outside the garage

I line my lower area with a thin plastic liner then the pad and the wood pellet debris is easy to dispose of.
