Onn 4K Pro is cheaper
Onn 4K Pro has a USB port for storage or other USB accessory
Onn has Wifi 6; Google has WIfi 5.
Google has a gigabit ethernet port; Onn has 100Mbps
Onn has always-on voice commands (you can say "Hey Google" without using the remote and use it like a Google Assistant); Google doesn't (you have to trigger with the remote)
Google has Matter and Thread built-in so you can control smart devices that support Matter and Thread; Onn doesn't.
Both have a way to find your remote
Onn 4K Pro has a backlit remote
Unless they bring this to non-Google devices, the Google devices have built-in Google Home controls
There may be some differences in audio codec support, but others can chime in on that.
99% of my media consumption is streaming anime from my plex library on my DS920 NAS, mostly with .ASS subtitles and my LG c3 and samsung s90c cannot direct play .ASS subtitles, neither could my old roku nor 2nd gen firetv 4k. it would transcode and buffer and gets pretty annoying. This ONN box plays my HEVC anime with .ASS subtitles no problem. tested with AV1, OPUS, HDR and various encodes, all direct plays with no buffering. In the few days i had it, the UI did crash on me once and i had to unplug the power and plug it back in though, other than that its been great.

I bought the cheaper version of this ($20 Onn 4k streamer) because, unlike my Nvidia Shield TV, it supports 4k HDR Youtube playback. The Shield lacks the necessary AV1 codec using VP 9.x encoding to get HDR playback from Youtube.
AV1? Yeah, in the future will be the king, but at the moment there is no content anywhere, obviously YouTube is not important here as it is available in any codec supported by devices.
Every year we have a new shield killer. every year we forget about the last one . can you name a device that is aligned with a shield that has gotten 8+ years of support without being abandoned ?

Now that might not matter to many people, but it was the entire reason I bought the Onn 4k. It plays 4k HDR 60fps Youtube flawlessly.
Yes, the Shield has had amazing software support and is still class leading hardware on the Android side.

BTW, as was mentioned before, the first units didn't have the backlit remote but I understand they've recently been getting rid of the non-backlit remote units and now are selling the newer backlit, be sure to check the numbers on the sticker, as someone else said earlier.
