Last time this monitor was at this price it hit 154 upvotes which is VERY good for a monitor.

For console gaming, RTINGS gave it a 7.1/10 for console gaming and wrote... [rtings.com]
The Dell G2724D is decent for console gaming. Although it lacks HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and can't take full advantage of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, it still supports most signals with both consoles, including VRR which reduces screen tearing. It has low input lag that makes gaming feel responsive, and motion looks sharp thanks to its fast response time, but there's still some motion blur. Unfortunately, games don't look life-like and realistic as the monitor has a low contrast ratio that makes blacks look gray, and colors aren't vivid, especially in HDR.

They said about the and gave it a 7.4/10 for console gaming... [rtings.com]
The AOC Q27G3XMN is decent for console gaming. Although it can't take full advantage of the Xbox Series X|S or the PS5 due to its 1440p resolution and lack of HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, it still provides a great gaming experience. It has a fast response time and low input lag at 120Hz and 60Hz, providing a smooth feel. It also offers good picture quality whether you're gaming in HDR or SDR, thanks to its high contrast for deep blacks, and it gets bright enough to fight glare in well-lit rooms.

I'm in analysis paralysis over these monitors. Anyone have opinions between this Dell, the HP Omen 27 (https://a.co/d/f1Hq2Xg), and the LG UltraGear (https://www.ebay.com/itm/387714587633 )? For PC gaming.

The general consensus is that the G2725D has a worse panel. I'd go 2724 between the two.

Tempted, my video card can't handle 1440 gaming right now. I guess I can run it at 1080 right now until I get a upgrade later?
I wouldn't. Just for funsies I downscaled my 1440p to 1080p and it looks like crap.. Worst than native 1080p

I'd wait till you can get a card that can power it THEN buy the monitor because chances are the monitor will be lower in $.

Unless blablabla tariffs. But before tariffs it was blablabla inflation. You'll be fine waiting imo

absolutely, pretty sure your 7700xt can easily handle most games on 1440p at over 60fps

How about a MacBook M2 with this monitor? Any cons? I'd connect via HDMI. This model/specs, but curved - is there something like that? Thanks!

G2725D is same price on Amazon. 180Hz. But it only tilts. No swivel/pivot/height adjustability.
Any other differences other than the appearance?

I have what I believe is the predecessor to this one, the 2721DGF. Anyone know how the two compare? I've been thinking about getting two more to replace my old monitors in my triple monitor setup.
I have three S2721DGF (GOAT) and one G2724D.
I had to turn up the brightness and contrast on the G2724D to better match the S2721s. It seems slightly warmer/dimmer. Maybe it's a panel lottery? I probably got LG panels on the older monitors and something different on the newer. I'll have to investigate.

G2724D vs S2721DGF:
  • 2 - DP (1 DP on S2721)
  • 1 - HMDI (2 HDMI on S2721)
  • NO external LED mood lighting
  • NO USB Hub
  • NO Audio
  • Both are NVidia Gsync compatible
  • S2721 lists AMD FreeSync Premium Pro compatibility, not listed in menus of G2724D, instead has "Vision Engine" option in place of this option.
  • G2724D is a couple pounds lighter than the S2721DGF. It has less internals, so makes sense.
  • Shell is exactly the same between the two models. (less a USB port and LED mood lighting tubes on the G2724D)

I've owned this monitor for almost 5 years now and it's worked flawlessly for my 3080.

What I like about this compared to the others even years ago. The IPS display is good! For school, work, games the display is honestly better than most $500-700 monitors I've used.

G sync works flawlessly and the ghosting is GOOD. It's easily mountable and I loved this monitor so much I even bought the 1080p version of the same model for a clean look for dual display setup.

If you're interested in 1440P gaming and can power it, I'd recommended this monitor at $300 and I recommend this at $150. Absolute steal.

In for another one as a backup yolo

Try to get something like RX 6600 XT or 6650 XT.
They are available for about $200 or less on the used market.
That will do 1440p on most newer games around 60 fps with FSR.

Because some of these accounts are just astroturfing. They are paid to inflate the thread & make it seem like it's an organic conversation. I just got mine yesterday and the box looks like it has been opened and resealed with previous FEDEX labels scraped off. My monitor has definitely been used direct from Dell!

Looks fine on the M2 with TB to DP. I can set it to 165hz at 1440p. Hope this helps as the m4 mini should be similar.

It came out in June 2023 not 2024 but yes you are correct.

i do like dell monitors... but from my experience, buying directly from dell, they do ship returns as a "new" product to later orders. I remember having to exchange 2-3 times bc I kept getting returns as "new"
