Walmart has Bose Smart Soundbar 550 w/ Dolby Atmos for $199. Shipping is free, otherwise free store pickup is available where stock permits.

Note: Availability for pickup may vary by location.

Thanks to Deal Hunter Eragorn for finding this deal.

Features:
  • Only TrueSpace elevates it all. Dolby Atmos is great for elevating the sound experience of certain movies and TV. But most content isn't Atmos-encoded. For full immersion all the time, there's Bose TrueSpace technology. No matter what you're watching, TrueSpace intelligently analyzes signals other than Dolby Atmos, like stereo or 5.1, and up-mixes them to create an immersive multi-channel sound experience. Instruments, dialogue, and effects are separated, then placed around the room. A.I. Dialogue Mode automatically balances voice and surround sound for ultra-crisp vocal clarity, so you hear every word without sacrificing immersive elements.
  • Big-time tech for a small soundbar. It wouldn't be a Bose soundbar if it weren't packed full of technology. The acoustic architecture of Soundbar 550 squeezes five transducers — including two that fire upward — into its compact frame. They all work together to spread sound around your room: horizontally left, right, and forward, but most importantly above to reflect off the ceiling
  • Streaming. Any way you want. If you can get it on your phone, you can hear it through the Bose Soundbar 550. And no matter what you stream, it all sounds deep and rich. Connect to Wi-Fi to access integrated music services and internet radio stations through the app. Or stream songs and video with Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, or Chromecast built-in. It's your entertainment — you choose how you stream it

I was skeptical but this sounds great. Always been a big fan of Bose QC series and lately they hit out of the park with the QC Ultra headphones and earphones. Very skeptical of their speaker solutions but for its size, it really hits above its weight and size. Expansive sounding and reliable.

One trick, I was able to get the subwoofer working with a generic adapter to work with any subwoofer. Use a summing 3.5mm to RCA mono adapter. I used this one:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014X11Q0Y

I think similar adapters should work. The app shows a Bass Module 700 detected and it's worked for several days now.

Edit:
There are similar adapters available around but just make sure it's a 3.5 stereo to rca.

Also, not sure how people aren't seeing bass from these units. It's painful to the ear how loud it gets with decent adult hearing at max volume and the bass is enough to shake the stand feel the couch slightly shake.

I purchased it at the same price and tried for a few days before returning today. My main need was to improve dialogue clarity over my S90D speakers. They were great for that, but lacked absolutely any type of bass. I had also bought Yamaha 1090 for 1/3rd the price. Yamaha had better bass than Bose and was a tad bit worse in dialogue clarity. For me, the improvement in dialogue clarity with Bose wasn't worth the price difference. I ordered another Yamaha for my LG C8. Will wait to spend more for a much better system later. I didn't find Bose to be a good value for my purpose.

I had bought this one a few days ago. I too read up the hype on that thread but unfortunately was disappointed with the result. I tried all the optimizations listed in the thread etc.
I finally bought the hisense deal (The $89 one) and somehow that is better than bose 550. Yes I know the specs are better in bose but could not get it working.
The sound had to be 30-40 to hear anything.
The sound started with a 1 sec lag on music/dialooge etc
Having said, that every review I read has been excellent but alas had to return the bose soundbar

How's the bass? I'm scared to get this without the subwoofer. 😬

Sound is crisp and clear, but bass is not so exciting. Decent though, but not enough if you are a bass lover. Can use a bass module from bose, but its kind of expensive https://www.target.com/p/bose-bas...A-89058434
I was wondering if we can connect some other subwoofers instead to this to boost bass

Yep I had bass up to 100 in the app and I found the bass to still be weaker than the 1090 Yamaha. At that point, Yamaha was $60 compared to Bose being $200. I tested Bose with some YT videos for testing different frequencies and it really struggled with anything low.
Yeah not sure how we are seeing such diff results. My Yamaha ATS1080 has more bass than the 1090 you have and the Bose 550 has far more built in bass effect than my 1080….

The TV that it's hooked up to is a S90D

Please don't buy this! Got this during thanks giving, it won't connect to tv automatically. Planning to return this!!!!
I connected to my Father in laws LG OLED and it works seamlessly.

I was worried because in the past bose products only worked with the provided RF (not IR) remotes and if you lost it or wanted a universal remote it required RF capability.

You still need the RF remote for certain functions (like reprogramming the wifi) but otherwise it has an app for most functions

I got the Bose soundbar 900 in 2022 instead of the Sonos Arc soundbar because I thought it sounded better. I wonder how this compares to them or to the equivalent of Sonos's lower tier soundbar if there is even a lower tier version of the Sonos Arc
I also have the 900 and bought this. I'm not sure about you but I have the 900 paired with the 700 surround speakers and 2 of the 700 subs. Sound wise and setup for me isn't apples to apples as I put this 550 soundbar in a square bedroom with 9ft ceilings while the 900 setup is in my great room which has a much higher ceiling height. For the rooms they are respectively in, they work for those spaces. Also this does not have AdaptIQ, which the 900 does have and I also have calibrated for the main room. So ultimately I'll say it sounds good with some level adjustments in the bose app for it and in the space it is in. I don't think it would be close to the 900 in that same space but I also bought this with the intention for a bedroom and these are vary different price points anyhow.

Bad product. Don't buy. It just doesn't output from the device though it was recognized. Tried with both LG and Samsung TVs
