Minoxidil causes vasodilation, which means it causes blood vessels to expand. This mechanism is hypothesized to reduce hair loss by increasing blood flow to applied areas. Note that it will have a minor systemic effect, so you will experience generalized hair growth, but it should be most pronounced where you treat.

If you have already begun balding, you will not experience much hair regrowth, if at all. However, it should slow the rate of hair loss. Some patients experience meaningful regrowth.

You should ask your doctor if you are on some kind of vasodilator, have low blood pressure, or have a cardiovascular disorder. In general, minoxidil is safe and side effects are benign.

You will experience reduced hair loss as long as your using it, and you should use the recommended amount daily. Discontinuing use may return you to a normal rate of hair loss. Note that this is not a one-time application, nor will it provide permanent benefit after using it for a few months. It will not accelerate hair loss for the last majority of patients.

Anecdotally, I've been using Kirkland brand for many years and have experienced thicker body hair, with some hair loss prevention. I would have lost more hair without it, but it has not lead to hairline regrowth. As others have noted, minoxidil is the active component and you would get the same benefit from the liquid spray. However, the foam is easier to apply, but at a premium cost.

Minoxidil in pill and topical form can be used together with excellent results.

It will stop your hair from receding, but it is not going to help you regrow hair that you've already lost. If you've had a hair transplant you need to be using this. If your hair is starting to receed, you need to start using this immediately. Again, it will not regrow hair but it will stop it from falling out.

PLEASE TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR FIRST. DO NOT USE THIS IF U HAVE ANY HEART ISSUES WITHOUT TALKING TO UR DOCTOR FIRST AT THE VERY LEAST.
Also talk to doctor first if you are taking cialis or viagara

Why? Is there a risk of using rogaine and ed medication together?

Both will work and the liquid is generally cheaper, but the foam has irritated my scalp less and is less messy in my opinion.

Some people look great bald, others don't. Losing one's hair can be stress-inducing, which then accelerates the problem more. At least that is my experience.
Because of people being vain and way too self conscious.

I've been using the foam minodixil for over 10 years now. I finally feel ready to ditch it and embrace the balding. I'm 37.

Don't waste your money on Rogaine! I used it for almost 10 years, it never worked. I would have saved so much money if I just shaved my head.

I just started using this 3 weeks ago. Every time I put it on I lose quite a bit of hair(like 10-15 strands) just trying to get the foam onto the scalp. I wouldn't lose this much even when combing hair before this foam. Is this normal?

Don't waste your money on this product. Instead, visit your doctor or dermatologist and get prescribed fin/dut and minoxidil pills. These are the only effective ways to prevent hair loss. I do have Rogaine, but I only use it when I'm going out, like on a date or something. Every time I apply it, my hair looks much thicker and easier to style, so I only use it for styling.

after fin/dut live with soft instrument it will never get hard

I've been using topical finesteride plus minoxidil for the last year and a half and if definitely helped regrow hair.
Way less systemic effects than oral.
It's more expensive but to me, very worth it.

To the people who asked "why so vain?" or "who cares?", I broke up with my gf 2.5 years ago and am still looking for the love of my life...and I feel more confident with hair.

Dating in the US ain't easy.
