Still waiting on US Bank to give me my $400 bonus for the prior promo that required two deposits totaling more than $5000.
I manager a deposit at a big bank and we have offers like this all the time but to answer your question, we do NOT accept transfers (brokerage, wireless, or any other). a direct deposit has a certain transaction code and that's how we track it. can't speak for us bank but they likely do the same.
This is the only bank where I did not received account opening bonus out of ~20.

So they wait until 90 days to see if you can hit 8k and if you don't they give you lower tier ? As soon as you hit 8k before 90 days is when they pay you? Then you can close right after ?
I was able to make an extra $5 since they let me fund my initial deposit with my 2% back rewards CC. I checked my CC statement, and the transaction was coded as "Mortgage/Financial Services '0000'" (and not as a cash advance so there weren't extra fees). I also liked how they clearly let me know the promo was applied in two different places of the app process and that, as others have mentioned, I can see my promo tracker once I set up online access.

I'm not sure with this bank specifically I'll let someone else answer for you!

Good luck..I had two accounts with them (personal/business) and they closed the business account 3 weeks after opening it and the personal account a month later WITHOUT any explanation..The worst bank I've ever done business with..Buyer beware

After dealing with US Bank's shenanigans when they handled covid unemployment payments in my state, I would never let them hold onto my money lol.
Note that if you keep $100k there and get the Smartly credit card it gets 4% back on everything which is basically unicorn status.
If I had $100k sitting idle I'd rather just plop it in a CD and get 4.5% guaranteed on the entire 100k than keep it in a 0% interest account and do the monthly payoff dance to get 4% on just my purchases. But if you live in a world where you are able to make $10k/mo in CC purchases and need the 100k liquid (like imminently purchasing a house) maybe it makes sense?

Yeah I see now that there's a "relationship rate" of up to 3.5% apy when you also have their visa. That's a hell of a lot better than the 0.005% if you don't lol. Makes a lot more sense.
My debit card expired with $1300 in the savings. They said they would send me a check with those funds. I waited 30 days and contacted them and they claim the account is considered inactive and they can't issue a new debit card nor issue me a check for my balance. I never had a bank refuse to let me withdraw my own money. I dont trust USBank.
They may have "escheated" the money which means if an account is inactive they will turn the money over to the state. Suggest googling - unclaimed funds and state you live in and then enter your data to see if that or other funds are there.
I got this bonus right after I got my last qualifying direct draft. Didn't have to call anybody.
I had to follow the specific link and when I was signing up it had that "450 promo" officially listed as added to my account (don't remember where exactly but I didn't have to search hard for it). If you don't see it, I suggest you restart the application with the correct link or something otherwise you'll probably not gonna get it.
I just got a direct deposit from my work into the us bank checking amount, but they are classifying it as a normal electronic deposit instead of a direct deposit. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Their savings counts, it's not 4.5 tho
