I purchased 2 when they were $99, and although locked for 1 year they've been working flawlessly for several months now on Tello using MKSD Ultra V5.6

For those having trouble porting in from TracFone, Straight Talk, or Total Wireless, here are the steps you need to take at the porting part. This is based on my experience. I have successfully completed port-ins from these sites after working out this guide. The guide below is taken from Total Wireless port into Metro. It should be the same for Straight Talk and other TracFone subsidiaries including TracFone.

Port Info Needed:
Most can be found here
https://www.totalwireless.com .. my-account.. manage-lines
Line: Phone number
Account: Phone IMEI (Text Four to 611611 to confirm)
Zip code: Your zip code
PIN: Text NTP to 611611 to generate your PIN.

----------------------
At the Porting part.
1. Enter the port info.
2. Metro contacts Total Wireless. (See picture 1)
3. Metro throws an error even if you entered everything correctly. (See picture 2)
4. The error is because Total Wireless is contacting the line owner to warn them about the port. (See picture 3)
5. Click on Correct errors.
6. Re-enter everything again and make sure everything is correct.
7. Metro throws another error. The same one as seen in Picture 2.
8. This is a bug on Metro site.
9. Click on the X at the top right to close that error message.
10. Metro proceeds to completing the order.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you clicked on submitting the order to Metro, your Total/ST/Tracfone line is immediately inactivated on their respective site, not allowing you to port that line any further even if Metro denied your order asking you to contact them or go to their store for completing the order. In order words, you cannot reverse the porting at Total/ST/Tracfone. I spent 2 hours with Total and it was going nowhere.

More than likely will take a year. A few Motorola phones like the Moto Edge have unlocked in 180 days even after the new policy put into effect.

Never had I thought to try and port out a line to free up the account to add new lines. Maybe I'll do it next year. Already helped all family members get 4-5 new iPhone 12s and 13s and I'm tired from all the hassle this has been.

Id say to just port the numbers out to textnow and create new visible number/account so metro doesn't have record of the number before
Haven't touched textnow for years! Never occurred to me you could port numbers over.

If you still have some time left and don't mind wasting 5 bucks, you could port out a number and try another time just to test the Metro's ordering system for some fun Smilie

Tempting… going to try tomorrow if I have time!
Edit: Nevermind, I remember textnow took five days for the last port in and I wouldn't have the time. Damn. Maybe next year I'll try!

if you want to port out your metro number, when is the last day that you can do that? during extension? or If you wanna upgrade the iPhone 12 you got from Metro to a 13? Should I just let the account lapse and just start a new account or ?
Quote from SmilingHorn700 :
Given up on adding another line, i keep getting " not eligible error" despite calling CSR and them trying to figure out. Last one suggested to create a new account, but then again will not reflect the $35 plan.
i got that also when I was trying to add a 13 on a second line, I kept trying, would get messages like we're only doing single line activations online or some other error messages but then finally when I added the $70 plan, then they would let me add it to the cart. But why would I add it to my account if it cost the same as doing it in a new account since the phone is for someone else anyway,& my account is going to expire soon

Do online activation from order status page -- that should be enough to start the 1yr unlock clock and finish pending number port
I thought someone mentioned that their phones unlocked anyway with or without activation? And some unlocks before a year? but whatever happened before I guess it could all change. And what is all this talk about using a MK thing to put these phones on some other carrier? so many people are saying it's doable. are there any risks to doing that?
Quote from ChaosBait :
You can extend Metro account for 72 hours.Yes, it will be shipped if the order goes through. But if you can't activate it because of account inactivation, 1 year unlocking countdown won't start..
but you can add a line during the extension? If you don't activate and the one year counter doesn't start, the phone will be locked forever?
Quote from jefferyh :
Metro usually cancels the port-in process automatically within a few hours. If not, call the port-in department at (800) 518-7519 to manually cancel it.If you already have a Metro account, when a port-in process is pending, the option of adding a line after you login is not available at all.

I was wrong earlier about posting that Xfinity mobile doesn't accept these iPhone 13 locked for trade. Using xiginity mobile website it looks like they will accept it for trade for $550 credit or $750 credit if you get unlimited line. I don't want an unlimited so I'd have to spend $750 for the $1,300 s25 Ultra with iPhone 13 trade tempted but decided not to. Xfinity mobile won't let you take these locked 13s into their service as a bring your own device though

of course not, these phones are locked to Metro and only they can unlock it. This deal is best for trading in at apple for gift cards, as you'll get the gift cards at half the price ($100 apple gift card for ~$50 cash). That way you can buy an unlocked iphone at Apple and not get locked in 2-3 years with expensive mobile plans from other carriers.

These phones don't come with a physical sim, you connect to wifi and the phone will auto download the esim and activate it, that also starts the 1 year clock (the phone unlocks after 1 year of activation).
Trading in at Apple is the easiest method. I was in and out in 10 minutes or less (for 1 phone). You can use these gift cards to buy anything on the Apple store.

Call them and tell them you are having issues with identity verification. They'll look up the number you are trying to port in and they might say that they still see the port in pending. If they can't approve it for you, ask them to cancel the port in. Wait a day maybe and then try again. That's what worked for me.

Any suggestions for other carriers to quickly and inexpensively port into Metro besides Visible? Visible isn't letting me sign up for a 2nd line via eSIM. Keeps giving me an "internal server error" when trying to buy a second line.

Got it. Do I still need to wait 24 hours every time this happens?

Dunno but one of the reps told me to wait 24 hrs, you could try immediately and see if it works
