I got to the checkout page and here's my trade in statement.
Device Trade-In/Service Switch Offer Terms & Conditions
Estimated Trade-In Refund for a: $10
Additional Spectrum promotion value of $700
Trade-in offer requires customers to trade in qualifying device, purchase and activate a new device. Trade-in device must have a value greater than $0. If the value of the trade-in device credit exceeds the cost of the new device, credit will be reflected on bill statement within 2-3 bill cycles. Promotional credits are reflected over 36 mos on the bill statement. Cancellation of mobile line before device is paid off will result in forfeiture of remaining promotional credits.Visit spectrum.com/mobile/trade-in for details.
The terms and conditions say that they will refund the trade in value but i don't like how the $700 is labeled as "promotional value" instead of "trade-in refund"
The TOS clearlu states that "promotional credit is credited over 36 months" and the "Spectrum Mobile Trade-In Program FAQs" page says "After your device is processed, you'll receive a credit for the assessed value. If you've paid for your new device in full, the trade-in credit will be refunded to your credit card within two billing cycles. Otherwise, a monthly credit will be applied to your Device Payment Plan in equal parts over the duration of the plan, starting within two billing cycles."
The page says that the trade-in credit (in my case $10) will be refunded to your account but the $700 is distinctly marked as "promotional credit" not "trade-in" credit.
You can't be mad at them for denying to refund the "promotional credit" to your card when they distinctly listed it as a separate line item on the checkout page.
You might get away with it if you end up with a customer service representative that doesn't care about the company and the TOS but you can't be mad if they reject you as per the TOS.
You could use the same line. You'd just tell them you want to upgrade device only.
Is Spectrum similar to most family accounts with a limit of five?
Thanks!

I think I might just go with Spectrum. OTD It will be around $308.79 after trading in my Flip5. Not bad at all.
I'm somehow also getting $20 activation charge being waived and Unlimited $30 being free for 12 months.
Time to say bye bye to VZW finally!
ironically that will put you... still on Verizons towers.
I didn't transfer to my card, because I actually use this service. I just got all of it back as a prepaid bill credit towards internet/mobile. Was too lazy to call in last year lol
Your estimated trade-in value:
$858.00
tempting.
- Promotion requires customers to trade in qualifying device, purchase and activate a new phone. -If new phone paid in full, credit applied to purchase. If new phone financed, credit applied to bill in pro-rated increments for the duration of the Device Payment Plan.- If the final trade-in value exceeds the cost of the new device, the difference will be refunded to your Spectrum Mobile Account. Trade-in device must have a value greater than $1.
-this years fine print-Trade-in offer requires customers to trade in qualifying device, purchase and activate a new device. Trade-in device must have a value greater than $0. If the value of the trade-in device credit exceeds the cost of the new device, credit will be reflected on bill statement within 2-3 bill cycles. -Promotional credits are reflected over 36 mos on the bill statement.- Cancellation of mobile line before device is paid off will result in forfeiture of remaining promotional credits. Visit spectrum.com/mobile/trade-in for details.
i dunno why people say its the same deal.
sounds like they will give you a credit for the amount over the cost of the new phone in 2-3 weeks and promo credit which is the 700 over 36 months.
the last part about canceling the line i worry about what spectrum will decide that actually means.

They also contradict themselves here:

Additional details will be provided in your trade-in email from Assurant."

This year's fine print doesn't differentiate how you'll get the trade-in credit between pay-in-full vs finance.
