You are experiencing the infamous SW bug that was plaguing all the 2021 PAC AVRs until recently. The only difference is that those AVRs that were getting DLBM/DLBC via recent firmware had the bug fixed (i.e. RZ50 and DRX 5.4). There's a workaround here:
https://www.avsforum.com/posts/61244181/

Hopefully, that post gets you closer to what you expect! It's not a clean fix like the next tier up AVRs but at least it has been seen and addressed by others!

I bought this when the last deal was posted. I'm new to Dirac Live and it's been a confusing experience coming from Audyssey. The mobile app is buggy and constantly disconnects. I only had success using it with a laptop. I did numerous measurements on numerous volumes and still can't get any bass coming from my sub. Dialogue is hard to hear. I have to raise the center channel +10 to hear anything. Dirac always sets it at -2. There doesn't seem to be a dynamic volume option like I had on my Denon S750H which is kind of a bummer. That came in handy for listening at low volumes. The night mode on the Integra doesn't seem to do anything. Minor gripe, the front display only shows what input it's on, not what sound format is being played. Maybe I need to tinker with it more but I've been underwhelmed by it so far.

In my opinion the laptop is the way it should be done

Sounds like you didnt set your speaker configuration BEFORE you ran Dirac
On some brands this will give you an immediate error message though I dont know if that is the way the Integra/Onkyo units perform and if it will let you go forward
I knew this part from the Arcam set up and just did it out of habit when I set up my RZ50

Dirac is not as initiative as the Asian room correction systems
But after you do it once its not that bad and the good news, IMO, is that it doesnt need to be tweaked constantly like I personally had to do with Audyssey

Fortunately, I bought my first Dirac equipped unit from an independent dealer who stepped me through the process

As for this display you mention you have to buy higher up in the model line for that feature.

TY

Hopefully they'll have that sale again. They're at $849 right now.

Have you had any audio / video issues with the receiver yet or has it worked well?
Looks like you got your wish.

Yes. I saw this a couple of hours ago! Thank you for the alert. Now I just need Abt to price match so I don't have to deal with the warranty BS from Onkyo (where they make you pay to ship the receiver in for service). Abt does all repair work in house and it's close by (short ride for me to get there). They're the GOAT when it comes to customer satisfaction. As a matter of fact, they will hold pricing for you as long as you put down 10% or so. They give you time to think about the purchase. If you change your mind, simply call them and tell them to cancel the order and you get refunded immediately.

Perhaps I misunderstood your statement...it seems you are speaking preferences which means opinions
That is not what I took your statement to mean...

Not sure how DACs came into things either...that was not part of your first statement

I dont know a single example of an amp using the same technology.... lets use AB since that is the ones used in the AVR of this thread....where the weight differences dont directly correlate to the amp bench tests.

When I use the word "better.".I mean spec wise as in a bench test
Audioholics is full of bench tests of AVR's that show this

Its seem that you are correlating your words with an opinion and not necessarily a test showing what the amp could actually drive in an all channels driven test

Again ..if you know of two amps of the same technology, where the much heavier unit performs more poorly spec wise( all channels driven), then I would love to see those specific models/examples
If you're going to change the terms of the discussion, I see no reason to pay attention to anything you say. You go from weight is better to it has to be better for only this specific amp topology. Also, bad reading comprehension. I said "component". Did I stutter? Should I speak Hungarian?

LOL.... I actually didnt change any terms. I used the exact same litmus test of performance ( all channels driven), the source for information( Audioholics) , along with referencing the same type of amp technology(AB) to keep things simple, relevant and consistent.

But you didnt answer my very simple question for some reason....

But ok....

Below is what you posted word for word..

The weight of a component says literally nothing about its performance. A ton of audio gear actually have added weights because people believe silly things.

Additionally I would love Wink to see just a few items ( of the ton) that are in the category of " A ton of audio gear actually have added weights because people believe such silly things"

To have that information , you would have to have copious and verifiable details of the construction of the products as well as their corporate marketing strategy

Here's a good example from back in the day when Lexicon stuck an Oppo BD player in their chassis and called it a day!

Lexicon BD-30 weighted 16 lb while the BDP-83 weighed 11 lb!

https://www.audioholics.com/blu-r...oppo-clone

Having said that, I do agree that specifically for A/B amps, weight is typically a tell-tale sign of the type of reserves an amplifier has!

I would call that a rebadge/clone situation

Just like Arcam/JBL Synthesis and Storm Audio/ Focal
That is not the situation that was posted in the original statement I quoted

Again...I cannot think of a product , of the variety mentioned in the first post, that doesnt have a correlation between weight and performance specs

Yes, it was a rebadge but you really don't think Lexicon was playing up the weight aspect to their upscale clientele? Amazing what 5 extra pounds can do for the sound of a universal player Wink

Lexicon was and still is a highly regarded brand by audiophiles!

I guess

But Oppo was always highly regarded with upscale clientele...so I am not sure if there was any " up market" to be gained
Its not like Oppo was ever considered in the Panasonic, LG, Sony , Samsung player class

For class AB amps (used in the majority of mass market AVRs), the majority of the weight is due to the transformer size and heat sinks. In general, the larger the transformer is, the more power it puts out and the more heat it generates. The caveat is the point at which the unit switches its bias from A to B as most of the heat is from class A operation. This varies for each manufacturer. So, while weight is not a direct factor, it is a fairly good indicator of amp performance. The other consideration is that the increased weight of those components may also require a heavier chassis to support it.

I am looking for a 5.1.2 setup. Is there any advantage to buying this one over the Denon AVR-X1700H at Costco for $400?

Bought the Integra DRX 3.4 two weeks ago. Great price at Adorama. It replaced a Denon AVR S960H. For my 5.1.2 configuration, setup was pretty straight forward. No issues. Getting the Integra Control Pro app going on my iPhone 15 pro was another story. The problem was on my end, as the app did not want to see the Integra on my Guest VLAN. Can't say anymore why my iPhone and the receiver weren't talking to each other on the (Guest) WiFi VLAN, - I am not a network engineer. Put both receiver and iPhone on another VLAN, connections were made and I was then able to run Dirac Live. The Dirac setup was uneventful; however, I did go back and adjust my speakers with a decibel meter. With all this done, the receiver sounds really good!!! Plex on my NVida Pro streamer (while plugged into the Denon) did not want to upscale videos from my NAS, - the Integra does. This is a big win. In summary, I am very pleased with the Integra, and at $579, it's hard to beat.

so is adorama an authorized retailer of integra products? they are not listed on integra's website.I read integra's warranty and it clearly says product must be purchased from an authroized retailer and adorama's website does not advertise itself as being an authorized retailer. I tried adorama's "chat" and the rep was indignant with me i'm so confused i now think maybe that was an AI bot i was talking to? lol

me:i just need to know if adorama is an authorized retailer of integra home theater products

Ileana S.
yes

me: can you provide me with documentation of this? it is important to me because integra says they wont honor warranty if not purchased from authorized retailer

Ileana S.
https://www.adorama.com/brands

me:that is a list of brands you sell and it clearly says you arent authorized seller for all of those brands

Ileana S.
Where does it say that?

me: this is direct from your website link you sent:

?
An authorized dealer or reseller is a seller that has an agreement or contract with the person manufacturing the goods
Yes, "authorized dealer" and "authorized seller" are essentially the same thing, meaning a company or individual that has been officially permitted by a manufacturer to sell their products
What seems to be the issue here?

me: your wording uses the word "MANY" that does not equal all. i cant buy a $600 product and then when i need warranty service get bad news that the manufacturer wont honor warranty

Ileana S.
Did you happen to check the list (she means adorama's brand list) for Integra?
I did look for it and it's there
So I don't understand what's going on here?

You might be over thinking it.

People have been buying from them for years, very few complaining about warranty denial.

Just buy it from someone you feel comfortable with.
