I used this for rainy nights at the cabin (no internet, no cable).

Plug into iPhone 15 pro,plug in hdmi cable ton this and the tv, plug in power source, play movies (already downloaded to phone) on the cabins tv.

If you wanted to connect two or more monitors to, say, a laptop or a Mac Mini, then since such devices usually come with only one HDMI port, these would be a cheap option to gain an additional HDMI port (assuming the USB C on the device supports it; not all do).

I have one similar to this. When I set my work laptop on the desk, I plug this one cable into the laptop. I already have my external monitor HDMI and my mouse connected to the hub, plus a power supply connected to it too. Just connecting the one cable when I sit down gives me the monitor, mouse, and laptop charging.

The monitor will work only if the USB C port you connect it to supports DP via alternate mode

FYI, you can also use this to "dock" a Nintendo Switch. Just make sure you use the appropriate AC adapter on the hub as the Nintendo Switch requires 15V/1.5A to enable "docked" mode.
