Have this and we like it. Yes plastic components but it's been durable with no issues for a couple years. The magnetic attachment is plenty secure and has a little lip that it's actually resting on a bit.

I bought this in 2018 and it just recently broke. I contacted Moen Customer Support and they're sending me a brand new one! "Buy it for looks, buy it for life" slogan is a real thing!!

Got this last time, ordered another one like-new for $22. Had good luck last time with Amazon Resale. There were three flow restrictors that were easy to remove without any damage.

Moen has a fantastic warranty. They honored my bathtub faucet cartridges that were 25 years old and sent me free ones recently!

I bought this exact showerhead 4 years ago, no complaints or issues so far and it survived fine through a move. I always use Teflon tape to avoid leaks.

I have had this for a few years. I would like to replace the round magnet with a stronger one due to the geometry of the shower and having a heavier hose attached. Anyone ever "upgraded" the magnet?

I've had this about a year and it's great. The magnetic attachment has just the right amount of strength and the settings on it are god. Best magnetically attaching shower head I've used.

I've received so many replacement parts for my Moen faucets. Probably over a dozen cartridges, new handles/internals, bathtub drains, bathtub faucets. I almost feel bad every time I call because they are sending out >$100 in parts every time.

I had problems with this leaking from the inlet. Every time I hand-tightened it onto the spout, the gasket would roll causing it to leak. Tried 2 different units and not sure if the problem was on my end? Had to reuse the gasket off an old shower head that was conical vs. flat and that fixed the issue.
You may need teflon tape. A gasket isn't always enough . Also as user1156 said, adding silicone grease (or petroleum jelly if you must) helps.

I prefer pipe dope for every possible connection but that's tough for a lot of people.

The generic ones are about $10 on a l i e x p r e s s. Just takes a few more days for time in transit.
I buy plenty of cheap junk, but plumbing fixtures are generally worth spending a small amount on name brand for given the lifetime warranties.

Installed two of these. Both have been reliable with no leaks. However, with one of them, the water temperature drops considerably in one on the spray patterns. I assume this is partly due to some issue with the plumbing, but it seems to suggest a flow variation that's interacting with the plumbing.
Tub/shower faucets have an anti-scald flow balancer that more-or-less is supposed to keep the temperature constant should the supply pressure of either hot or cold change....so if someone flushes a toilet, or starts a load of laundry, you don't get burned (or have a significant drop in temperature either). It's not a sophisticated setup, it's just a double-ended piston (shuttle/spool valve) that is pressurized on each end with the hot and cold, respectively, and if there's a pressure imbalance it will slide one way or the other, adjusting the flow rate past the spool core of the hot/cold respectively.

These very commonly get stuck, particularly in showers/tubs that aren't used very often (the valve doesn't move for long periods of time, minerals precipitate, valve gets stuck, and you have no hot water).

In your case sounds like the pressure fluctuations from one of the modes (perhaps the pulsating one?) cause the valve to oscillate out-of-phase and drift to one side. If you haven't removed the flow restrictor(s) in the nozzle I would start there.
